I've had one of these for around 3 years. Mine came with 2 battery packs, and for registering they sent me a 3rd battery. Not sure if that will still happen, but was a pleasant surprise for me.

I read lots of reviews and there are some tips and tricks to keep them running better for longer. First, the hull needs sealed up better. Get some caulk and run some around anything passing through the hull: side dump water port, bottom water inlet, steering rod, screws on the back... Then also hit the battery packs, where the wires meet the top and back of the connectors. A dry boat is a happy boat.

The motor has water lines wrapped around it. Toward the back of the motor, there is a cooling port/hole built in. They used to ship with the windings covering the ports, so pry the water line out of the way to allow the motor to breathe and it'll run quite a bit cooler and last longer.

Mine shipped only wanting to turn in one direction, and not very far. There are some adjuster pins on the steering servo, and some on the rear rudder. Move it around so the boat is balanced and more responsive. Worst case it flips and then you just need to throttle back then forward and it pops back upright (self-righting feature).

If the boat were to crash or take on too much water, it will sink. To prevent that, glue some foam into the nose of the boat, and to the bottom of the lid. That way even splitting apart you can still recover all pieces.

Keep the prop shaft greased with marine grease. It'll extend the life, and keep water from coming in through the prop tube.

One final bit of advice: if you're considering this while also considering going to a larger size and stupid fast boat, you'll want one of these as a recover vessel. I've read about so many people having to swim after their race boat, but I just launch this little guy and bump the boat back to shore. Another option is add a tow line to this boat with something that floats and have it swim a circle around the dead boat to lasso it to pull back to shore. Small investment to keep from having to jump into the water. This little boat started my obsession, and I now have 2 other 50+mph boats.

shouldn't the speed be in knots?

I got the black one. It shows double water proofing, not sure if the red one offers this too, but for another $2.00 I'll try it out.

I have one similar to this, so ill offer my experiences:
You'll want additional batteries. Run time is about 8-10 minutes on a charge. Signal distance is maybe 25'. You'll also want to get waterproof tape to help seal the battery compartment.
This isn't a durable toy. As long as you play careful and have discretion with where you're running it, its a good value.

Was 35.63 out the door for the black one for me. That includes tax. Figured why not. Always looking for something to do with my daughter.

Anyone ever try fishing with one of these? Thinking about tying a bass lure and having a go of it.
