Trying to think why anyone would get the 1950X right now over the new Ryzen 3600 and above.

you can't think of a single reason why someone would want 16 cores over 6 cores just because the 3600 is a new release? ...

My 3800X matches this in games and is around 15% slower for encoding (if your using premiere for 4K videos).

The passmarks were similar, especially the 3600X. Obviously more cores are more useful in certain areas but the price difference and ability to use most AM4 motherboards is significant.
