I wonder if you can adapt apple play to this?

Anyone know what is needed to make this compatible with apple play.

No apple carplay. No Android Auto. No Front USB port. I wouldnt spend this kind of money on something with this limited features and a big pretty screen. I think you'd regret looking at this everyday and not being able to use such features in this day and age.

Apple CarPlay & Android Auto needs quite a bit of system sw support and of course hardware to be able to render projections from the phone. This is why it's possible to get apple CarPlay and Android Auto work with RaspberryPis but not with these screens.

To be quite honest if any of audio manufacturer had capable HW on these versions they would rebrand them as Auto/CarPlay capable and charger for without having hardware revisions. Getting these expect not to have any projection options. If these do run BB Q basic stack (which is doubt) you May get miracast/mirrorlink at best.

As someone who has purchased a CarPlay and Android Auto unit I would just say that it's really not anything too special beyond just having a nice mount for your phone (most of which have decently sized screens) and a solid connection for audio output to your car stereo. The technology is still coming along too, it's annoying to connect your phone via usb and the newest units with wireless connections will probably advance a lot over the next year and come down in price.

Just my 2 cents.

there is a reason why this is not expensive. There are no extra features like apple car play or android auto. This head unit is best for those with cars that don't have Bluetooth capabilities.

All MVH model has no disc drive, this unit has an usb on the back, you can buy an extension and mount it to your car. It's lack of any carplay or android auto. Might worth to pay more for one with carplay and android auto if you are planning to upgrade from a stock radio. Don't forget you need to buy additional harness to get the system to work with your car audio system. Also control harness as well for steeling wheel button control.

$100 isn't too far off shop fees (plus any kits). But the Installcard isn't what I'd recommend, DIY (it's not hard), or find a shop in town and pay cash... InstallCard takes about 40 points, so that installer is getting about $60... so shortcuts *WILL* be made.
