Variable pricing deal with Reach Mobile $20

I'm in their beta program which I learned about in this forum and I referred a lot of friends and family since I've been really happy with the service (and to get the free month referral credits, naturally). Reach recently added a 1GB plan for $20 which is the type of plan I wouldn't really consider signing up for since I usually use a lot of data, but my brother forwarded me his bill which had a pleasant surprise - even though he was signed up for their $60 10GB plan, he barely used any data last month since he was on wifi constantly... and he was charged for just the $20 1GB plan. Service is on Verizon's networks but they announced that they also are on AT&T's.

This isn't so much a specific deal but worth a mention since I don't know of any other companies doing this. From their site:

Best Fit saves you money
Never overpay for unused data. Pick the plan you want and pay for the plan you actually use. We'll adjust your bill automatically to the lowest possible plan for that month.

$20 for 1 GB. Is that a joke, haha. So expensive.

Point of the post is that they charge you based on your usage. Most companies would charge for the plan you sign up for even if your phone was off all month

This is the first time I've found a variable plan that charges more than Ting.
If you wanted variable plan you would go with US Mobile usually.

I just plugged in 1GB of data and 1000 texts, 500 minutes and Ting would be $36 a month. Cheaper than USMobile as well

Not a bad deal at all - I'm also on their service from the beta program staying with them. Their pricing for being on Verizon and having unlimited talk and text is very competitive. Since everyone is giving it a thumbs down I figured I'd run the numbers assuming my typical monthly usage of 500mins, 2000 texts and my data fluctuates all over the place

1GB Reach: $20, Ting $39, USMobile: $23
3GB Reach: $35, Ting: $53, USMobile: $33
5GB Reach: $45, Ting: $73, USMobile: $40
10GB Reach $60, Ting: $123, USMobile: $50

So USMobile is a little cheaper in all scenarios if you use all of your data (except the one that the OP posted, about, ironically, where Reach is cheaper). If you don't use all of your data, you pay for it anyway with Ting and USMobile. I think Reach is the only company that charges you for what you use. One of the few post paid companies too. But holy crap, Ting is expensive!
