Seems like a very niche product. Reviews look good on Amazon. The MSRP of $299 has got to be a joke. Found this in the description:
232 days of development, 22 Onkyo engineers, 60 drive unit trials, 34 sleepless nights, 14 cable set-ups, 5 re-workings, 1 Steve Harris

$300 MSRP and all that and they didn't make them over the ear? Maybe they didn't have enough engineers for that.

$79 seems ok if you're really into Iron Maiden. Otherwise I would probably steer toward
an Audio Technica ATH-AD700X for an extra $12

Up the irons.

Not sure how I feel about Onkyo headphones, especially when Sennheiser 598/9 drop to $100 occasionally

Mine arrived and I am very pleased.

I'm not an Iron Maiden fan; I bought because they are an improved version of the excellent but no longer available Onkyo ES-FC300 headphones. [innerfidelity.com] Compared to the 300 Onkyos, the sound has been tuned (more forward vocals), and the terribly unreliable MMCX cable connectors have been removed.

Sound is outstanding. I do not like the pads at all - too hard they hurt. Any pad that fits Sony MDR-V55 phones will fit. I purchased some made for the Sony's from LTYIVABHTTW (yep, that is the brand) on Amazon and they are a major upgrade. Softer and thicker.

I hope the phones go on sale again. I will get another pair.
