Asian Red? A Pepcid or Zantac should fix that

Unless I'm missing something about this particular brand (aside from the fun name), this isn't really any better than your local Autozone. $10-12 is pretty standard, non-sale price.

EDIT: Actually, after taking a look...this does seem to be a deal over the in-store price by a few bucks. Good find, OP.

Zerex Asian Red & Asian Blue are the same formulation with different color dye. Toyota used red dye to demark their long-life HOAT antifreeze. Honda/Nissan/Subaru/Suzuki used blue. Mazda & Hyundai apparently just stuck with green.

This is $12.97 at Walmart; I paid $11.97 for it a few months ago.

Is this similar to the red / pink VW coolant?

This is a special formula. Other than the mazda OEM fluid its the only other good choice.

"silicate free HOAT formula with a phosphate additive"

I doubt it.

No. It depends on what kind of fluid your vehicle manufacture calls for.

According to this VW G12 and many other manufacturers' formulas are also HOAT:

Probably not worth it to risk it though.

Stop wasting your money. For 7.88 at Walmart, Prestone is guaranteed for all cars and can be mixed with any other colour of coolant/antifreeze, making it the best choice for you. You can use it to top up your car or to refill the cooling system after you've drained and flushed it.

Let's be honest. Companies love to market "the one xxx for all!"

Prestons "guarantees" that their orange coolant is made for all cars and mixing with other coolant is fine but they do add an asterisk. Their guarantee and warranty in reality means almost nothing with all the disclaimers they hide in small print.

The topic of coolant is a long one but overall, a one-stop solution coolant by Preston's isn't the "best" but it will do job. It is however best practice to not mix and go with the prefer coolant which has prefer additives or avoid certain additives.

Bought the Zerex asian blue for my honda for 10.99 at napa auto sale last week or so. so this deal is not bad delivered.

Go use your brain, RTFM and look at whats actually in the "genuine" coolant then compare it to what you want to use. Its not like honda/mazda/toyota make coolant. If you don't want to use your brain then go to your dealer and buy whatever they have for double. The "asian" blend is Phosphated-HOAT. Most prestone is silicate free but is non phosphate.

Another reason to buy this is purely the dye. Just did service for a 2010 accord. The Honda service for coolant is just a drain and refill from the radiator. Not all the coolant comes out of the engine. Although many coolants will work, I wanted to keep the color uniformly blue to check for breakdown. You'll also want a spill-free lisle funnel for this which seals to the radiator to bleed the system after you refill the radiator. Makes it very very easy to change your coolant. Wish I knew about the funnel earlier.
