Its really a Phorus PS-10 speaker rebranded.

I own a couple and like them. They are "Play-Fi" speakers that have added on some Alexa compatiblity. As such, they can do a lot of things Alexa cannot, like play local files and connect to more streaming services. But they are indeed mediocre as Alexa assistants.

NOTE: They have AUX inputs and sound quite good. Plus they can broadcast wirelessly whatever you plug into the AUX input to all the other Play-Fi speakers you own. So get one of the $15 Echo connects, or a Chromecast Audio from eBay, and make a cheap multi-room audio streaming system.

These are decent speakers. However, I recommend turning off Alexa and simply enjoying the sound.

I have one. Sound is ok. Alexa performance in this unit is total crap! Not nearly as good as Amazon Echo devices Very unhappy overall. Suggest you avoid!

I can't believe that a wireless speaker that recently retailed for $300, does not have Bluetooth.

Can I attach an old first-gen Alexa to this that has a speaker that needs to be constantly rebooted to work correctly (input and listening work fine, but speaker itself fails after a day of being on) so that this would be the audio and my existing Alexa would be the listener and control unit?

Anyone have any ideas ? Smilie

I should work. Almost all Echos have line out audio jacks. If you plug the line out into any speaker with a line in it continues to use its own mic and brain, but uses the other speaker for responses/music. If you have anything at home now with an Aux in jack you could test that. If it works on that it would work on this. You just turn the mic off on the Pioneer (or do not ever turn on the Alexa skill on it).
