Throw in a NVME and it's a great machine.

It should handle ProTools First well and will handle ProTools if you upgrade the memory to 16GB. In either case, I'd still recommend upgrading the hard drive to NVME. Also, would better handle a previous version of ProTools or one of the many other DAW's on the market.

This particular version of the Aspire 7 with the Intel I7-8750H processor for $600 ran a few times on sale this past month or so and is/was an absolute steal! If you got one (or going to), congratulate yourself Smilie

With built in access ports for upgrades on the back cover (VERY rare), for $100 more you could EASILY upgrade to 16GB RAM and swap out the snail HD for an ultra fast NVME 3.0 X4 512G SSD!

There is nothing else out there for this price in a 6 Core INTEL gaming laptop. This laptop easily benchmarks some 40%~50% HIGHER than all the new 8th Gen I7-8565U laptops (energy efficient 15W TDP = low clock speed...the Acer 8750H is a beast at 45W TDP!) recently introduced.

BTW, for the reviews that complained about the keyboard backlight constantly timing out and turning off, that power saving feature can now be turned OFF in the BIOS so your keyboard backlight always stays ON...

This is a better deal if you want to play games. It is built for gaming with the GeForce 1050.

It's a nice deal but I think the GPU and CPU are a bit of a miss match. I think at the very least a 1060 should be paired with that i7.

I have a few questions:

I looked on crucial's website and couldn't find any NVME's that matched with this laptop. It only showed SATA's. I'm not really good at knowing the differences between them, but I assume NVME is better. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Can the backlit keyboard be toggled on and off?

And what is the battery in Whr? I am seeing that most laptops come in that and I'm learning a relative battery life according to that.

Thanks ahead. I've been trying to find a video of someone taking this laptop apart and I cannot find it.
