Best Buy is offering $600 instant discount on the Verizon Galaxy Note 10+ 256GB when you PreOrder then select "YES" you have a device to trade in. Select Note 9, 128GB (Verizon) at the trade in screen.

You'll then be asked to "upgrade" or "add a line". I choose "upgrade", entered my Verizon information and paid taxes in the amount of $54.95.

Additionally you get the following:

What if you are already paying on a dpp? Is the price higher?

I'm not sure. I was eligible for an upgrade and didn't have a current DPP. I would believe you would need to either pay your current DPP off or be eligible for an additional upgrade.

I've always purchased my phones outright through Samsung.com and have NEVER done a DPP.

If I elect to pay off the remaining balance of the phone EARLY in a year or so (when the Note 11 is released), does that mean that I will LOSE the bill credits from this Note 9 trade-in and will end up paying MORE money to pay off the rest of the balance a year from now?

No bill credits. The $600 is instant as long as your Note 9 is in good condition when you go pickup your Note 10+.

I added the screenshots to show the total financed. You'll notice it's exactly what the price should be since there aren't credits.

Before you finalize your order, the billing agreement will show there aren't any credits and the Note 9 is being used as a down payment.

Any evidence that the trade-in value (either the allowance or the original trade value potion) is NOT subject to the monthly credit? When a discount has to do with DPP, I always have a concern.

So that means a year from now, I can just pay off the remaining balance outright, correct?

What about tax? How is that charged and how much are you paying? I don't see that in your invoice screenshots.

I'm trying to compare buying from Samsung.com vs this Best Buy deal.

did this last year at BB on note 8 -> note 9 and it was $600 with no bill credits. paid it off in like a month.

wondering right now if there is currently any benefit from buying through best buy vs samsung.

BB is a verizon phone while samsung is unlocked, though not sure if any real difference. also through samsung i get $200 credit instead of $150.

I feel you. I'm in the same situation. Samsung.com with Unidays vs Best Buy DPP (both with Note 9 trade-ins).

Do you know how tax applies with a DPP and when/how do you pay it? Is it on the ENTIRE amount or the discounted price?

I'm concerned that the Unlocked model will NOT have visual voicemail on Verizon. Some say it does and some say it does not, depending on phone. But I think that all the bands are on the Unlocked model for Verizon service just like the Verizon branded models. But I'm not 100% sure about this.

And with Best Buy you got to pay a $40 activation fee, but you don't have to risk trading into Samsung and all the BS I've heard about rejecting trades. I've traded once thru Samsung (to get the Note 8 for screwed over Note 7 buyers b/c of the recall) and it took FOREVER to confirm that my trade was accepted. And I read that Samsung will now send you back your phone if it was rejected, when before they just declined your trade and screwed you over. But I'm still leery about the trade-in process though.

You would need to pay that device off, or pay up to the 50% mark and trade it in (for zero value, covering the other 50% owed) if your device is eligible for the annual upgrade program. In the second scenario, you are still eligible for a trade in credit, but you would need to trade in a second device as the first merely got rid of the balance owed and made you eligible for an upgrade.

Too many extra fees for this and that with a carrier. Better to trade into Samsung.com and purchase phone outright for less than $500 plus you get $200 samsung.com credit and a few reward points.

You can pay it off the month after you purchase or a year from now and still be fine. The third screenshot shows the tax I paid at the very top. It was $54. I paid the tax up front.

All Verizon phones are unlocked after 60days of use automatically. My main reason for going with best buy is to avoid the Samsung trade in lottery, you can't get aura blue as the Verizon model, I didn't want to buy unlocked and have to deal with flashing a Verizon rom to have all Verizon service features.

Samsung.com can't use your dpp.
