Streaming Radio Station on iPod

35 13 August 8, 2019 at 10:23 AM
I have a 4th gen iPod and a speaker dock with radio. I'd like to be able to listen to the baseball game, but the reception is poor as I live in the sticks. I got to thinking maybe I could stream the radio station on my iPod, but have no idea how to do this. Is this possible? Thanks for any help.

You might checkout the Tunein app and see if they have a stream for your team.

On an iPod? There's no way to get internet access that I'm aware of.

Sorry I thought you said ipod touch originally. I can't even remember if the 4th Gen ipods had an fm radio. If it did the headphone wire served as the antenna. It's probably time to upgrade technology.

And I didn't consider that he or she might actually mean Touch. Fair point.

For an iPod touch that has wifi you could either try the local station via TuneIn or more likely buy the streaming package (I think there's a radio only plan) from the mlb At Bat app.

Thanks for the replies. I should have specified, it is an iPod Touch and in my garage, it sits about 20 feet from the router. It looks like MLB app is affordable, but my team is blacked out and Tunein says my station is no longer available. I guess it was a nice idea, but not meant to be. Thanks again.

You want this:
https://www.mlb.com/live-stream-games/subscribe/gameday-audio

There are no blackouts for the audio subscription.

I pay for the whole mlb.tv package for watching out of market games on TV, but I regularly use my phone for just what you're trying to do: listen to the radio feed around the house. The audio only subscription is $20/year and might be worth a try for you.

If it's connected to wifi, can't you just load that page in the browser? Or you should be able to get it via the Radio.com app: https://www.radio.com/apps

I think it's just too old. It's telling me I need iOS 10, but my system says it's up to date and I have iOS 6. Radio.com just hangs in the browser. Maybe I'll just look for an inexpensive bluetooth speaker and use my phone. Thanks all for the replies.
