nevermind, missed the coupon code. This is cheaper than buying a full set of toner! Smilie The new ones come with the smaller size black and a full set of color, so I'd assume this does.

Are you sure the color cartridges that come with the printer aren't "starter" cartridges? I've not ever seen an HP Color Laserjet that came with "retail" cartridges rated for the full page count.

I have had bad luck with this printer - constantly needs to be restarted, faxing inconsistent, scanner takes multiple pages.

I've bought a lot of these for clients. It comes with the full 6000 page color cartridges and a 5500 page black. That is the standard black and there is an XL black available. Those are the standard color and there are no XL color cartridges available.

I've found it to be a very reliable small office color laser. The only fiasco I've had with this model was a transfer belt got ruined because the end user got something foreign in the printer. (I don't remember if it was a staple or something?) I've got a number of these in the 5-7 year old range that have 150,000-200,000 pages that are going strong (so not heavy usage). I've not had a single one die or need anything major. I was using a lot of Konica 4690mf before this which had cheaper supplies, but Konica stopped selling something like this without a service contract. I tried brother, but the printers weren't nearly as reliable. Some of the Dell's have been ok, but since Dell never made their own printers I found the support lacking. This 570dn is nice for an office that isn't quite ready for a copier with a service contract. When you get to 150,000 pages and need a fuser or a transfer belt, just buy another 570dn since they go for sale regularly at $750 and they come with full supplies...

Even though the cartridges are expensive, they are more economical than the cheap lasers and with HP the cartridges include the drum. The only other thing you'll need is a toner collector bottle every once in a while. I've found them to be very reliable for single provider medical offices who want color. I've never bought 3rd party cartridges, so I can't tell you the situation there.

I've had some issues with faxing, but my rural area has bad phone lines and I've had issues with faxing in a lot of printers. I just turned down the fax speed and haven't had issues since. I personally haven't had issues with the scanner picking up multiple pages. It's not especially fast scanning, but in the offices where we do heavy scanning, we have fujitsu scanners. I did have one that was locking up, but updating the firmware fixed that.

Seen too many low $200 deals on the Canon multifunction color lasers. I like HP, but jumped on a Canon deal and have been pleased. $400 seems high unless there's a huge difference in toner cost.

Great office printer. Had it for 6 years before giving problems serving ten users.
