48mm is HUGE! Wish it said what movement is in it. $100 auto is crazy cheap.

Looks like an NH35. For the price, size and specs, the natural comparison is the Invicta Grand Diver.

Same company, FWIW.

The NH35 is a common Seiko movement comparable to Miyota 8215 (as seen on lower end auto Invictas and Citizen). Nice hacking movement for the price.

$100 for an automatic is painfully average

Funny, I guess I have never paid attention. Always just assumed most sub-$200 watches are quartz.

Oh well, back to not caring. Smilie

Years ago that might have rang true but with the Japanese putting out high quality automatics at the cost of around $5 to them (thanks to the marvel of modern day manufacturing engineering) you can buy a watch with an automatic that will last you a lifetime for around $50 (see Seiko 5 variants), and with the Chinese perfecting their knockoffs of any number of Swiss movements, you can literally pick up automatic watches for $10 on AliExpress

Granted the latter probably won't last you don't thanks to extremely unrefined manufacturing (unlike the Japanese), but just goes to show you where automatic movements are at these days.

Yeah, I have seen some of the knockoffs they are doing, and they are honestly scary. As someone who always buys my watches used, I am more and more getting afraid to do so. The usual "tells" are starting to disappear in the clones.

Yeah I was just talking about the movements themselves, which are often cloned off Swiss movements (the Russians do this too) and are put into any number of non-replica watches, but the actual replica watches are getting scary good as well.

There are aspects in the finishing of some of the high level Rolex submariner reps that are BETTER than genuine, sadly. At the end of the day though the Swiss movement will likely always be better and of a significantly higher caliber, IMO.
