That "low %" kickback that Slickdeals gets is still a guaranteed value. Slickdeals still get that percentage of profit for 100% of sales. Even if you claim approval rates are high, that still does not factor in the percentage of people who dont send in a claim. There is absolute no chance that 100% of people who buy an item, submit a rebate. This is what companies bank on. For each person that forgets, is late, makes a mistake, ect... they turn a profit.

Mail-in rebates are statistically proven to be beneficial to retailers, to the order of Billions in profit per year.

You need a better reference than a 14 year old article from 2005 which is pre iPhone. I no longer us my Motorola RAZR V3 from 2005. The rebate process has since moved on and become much easier. One of my last rebates I received an electronic card I put in my apple wallet.

I just paid $900 for these. Great sounding speakers. They look like high-end furniture. They pair nicely with my 704c. If I didn't already have 707s in the basement, I'd order another set. If you factor the rebate, it matches the lowest price I can find on SD.

Mail-in rebates were designed to benefit the retailers. Nothing has changed.

Hit or miss with rebates. 8-10 weeks, seriously? Just make adorama pay for the $100 on instant rebate. It's all a game, and a bs one. Guaranteed someone will f--k up the "mail in rules" and will get shafted.

Your going to get a lot of opinions of comparisons and how they sound to them but unfortunately none will be able to tell you how they compare/sound to you.
Your comparing two pretty different sounding speakers. I would suggest trying to find somewhere to listen to them.
It's so frustrating when people give this answer. Of course it's all subjective, but isn't he/she asking for a subjective opinion? What the hell is the point of answering questions like this? If you have an opinion / response for them give it, but if this is all you're gonna say then why even respond? I think we all know opinions are subjective and everyone hears things differently.....

MOST MANUFACTURERS will never do instant rebate because that would mean 100% of customers would get the deal. The whole point of mail in rebates is that some customers will forget to mail in the information. Of the customers that do, some will fill out a form incorrectly and be denied. MOST MANUFACTURERS do mail in rebates on purpose because they know they will only pay out a small percentage of buyers.
Fixed your post for you..

I get your frustration and the irony is you bring to light the other side of the fence to my post.
So I agree with you when you say
"I think we all know opinions are subjective and everyone hears things differently"
Which would beg the question and I'll put it the way you said it
"What the hell is the point of asking questions like this?"
I mean come on think about it, if that statement is true what are you really going to get out of of the opinions!?
So do really think someone will magically be able to tell you "this is the one that will sound better to you and that's it!"
So think how frustrating it is(not really for me 😜) to read over and over again someone asking "so how do these compare" or " what better than this" .

IMO all it does is influence your opinion.

If you look on here you'll find countless people saying things like.... I liked those but I read reviews/opinions their not that good. There endless examples on here like that and then you get some of these people who are very colorful with their words and paint this beautiful picture and sound convincing and in the end isn't going to tell jack about how they will sound to you IMO.

Again IMO the more you read the more you influence what you think you hear and some get pretty out there too.
The other day on one of these threads person mentioned had a $1200 Yamaha matched with 7 channel Emotiva amp which was running his Klipsch Quintet speakers which made them incredible!

Hey all I'm doing is giving people my opinion, just like everyone else.

If you can make that statement and still think that someone else's opinion on what they hear will tell you what you will hear, hey go for it I'm not trying to stop you, it's your money.

Could these be placed on stands horizontally without negatively affecting the sound too much?

F Adorama. My last order was two years ago and they keep re-adding me to their daily junk mail list. Using the mail settings and unsubscribe page does nothing, violation of myriad spam laws.

I got screwed many years ago on a bare bones cpu from tiger direct. Each piece of packaged hw had some sort of individual rebate. Nothing was accepted even after numerous emails, calls, etc. all my paperwork was straight and complete. Vowed never to do business with them again. Ever

Dell had a slickdeals rebate earlier this year and was very hesitant. Ended up buying it and was sent a visa card for the entire max $200 savings. I am always weary of these deals as "scams" but slickdeals restored my faith. Inconvenient yes...but it worked just fine for me flawlessly. Just my $.02

These look nice, like furniture. I like my little monitor 50's but they are not even in the same category except for the plastic Polk nametag.

And on rebates... follow the directions. Now that you can track them online or resubmit things electronically, pretty much 99%. Things used to get lost in the mail, and I personally know that companies used to take advantage of that. But that was the dark ages of rebates. The only real downside nowadays is having to wait 6-8 weeks for your Visa card.

These are great when they don't get knocked over. My kid knocked one these over as he was sliding down the banister of my stairs. 😥 In for one!

As for the rebate I just received my $200 rebate from the Slickdeals\Dell deal two months ago.

How are these speakers? Been eyeing the Klipsch reference series, are these better? It would be mostly for home theater, occasional music playing
I would personally think the JBL 590s are a better deal. I have them and love the sound. They are also easier to drive than these.

Hate rebates. If the 707s hit about a grand like before I'm down to upgrade my current setup.
