I wonder if you might have gotten a defective one?

I have a Snark ST-8HZ, and used this one at a Guitar Center, and both were accurate. My Snark has been running on the batteries that came with it for 4 months now.

Only issue I've had is that mine will sometimes get stuck on the low E or high E (usually low E) and won't switch when I go to the adjacent string, but muting the strings, switching to a string in the middle, or just waiting a second or two will reset it.

Picked up a couple. I like having these on my guitars, more than built-in tuners.

I'm sorry, even for this price, I don't think it's worth it . In my experience they are terribly inaccurate especially for the lowest string. Please it eats up those coin-shaped batteries. Spend more for a good one, and save yourself the aggravation.
In for one with no rush

Same, battery last close to forever. We use this as well as an app.

Pitchlab pro was great until it somehow disappeared from the app store. Since than I have not had much luck finding a good replacement.

This is also especially useful in a room full of noise.

These are good tuners, but they're pretty goofy looking. Totally worth it for 5 bucks, though. I prefer the more expensive D'addario micro tuners because they're very discreet. Both brands have slight issues with an inability to recognize the low e string sometimes.

one of these died on me in the middle of studio recording. and it wasn't the battery - it just wouldn't register any notes.

also agree with above they are really inaccurate on the low strings, i would end up just tuning on the higher and then manually tuning the lower to the higher. also if you do anything other than standard E tuning it really gets screwy.

I like these. If I had a pet I would name it "Snark"
