This is an amazing product with a critical design flaw: the bluetooth range is piss poor. I'm on the market for an alternative but for $50 you can't beat it.

Is the only difference between the iGrill 2 and iGrill mini that the iGrill 2 has 2 probes instead of 1? Or is there some other benefit over the mini?

So the design flaw is the poor bluetooth range or connectivity? If it's the range, how close are we talking?

Range. I live in a brick house, and I can't make it past 15 feet once I walk inside. 25 feet when walking around the house.

It's not the item, it's the Bluetooth technology. Range is only 30 feet without walls

I have mini, iGrill 2 and iGrill 3

Mini is simply just 1 probe that when connected to app gives temp readings.

IGrill 2 will display temp right on the device as well as app. (2 probes)

IGrill 3 will allow you to connect 3 probes and give readings from the app, great for when grilling/ smoking two different meats and one ambient temp probe. No reading on device, I believe this is also now discontinued.

One draw back on all devices, are the probes, do not use over open flame, best used for smokes or low and slow and under no circumstances get the probes wet. Do not clean in sink or even wipe with damp cloth. Just clean with a dry rag if absolutely necessary.

Protip: The iDevices Kitchen thermometer is the same thing in different plastics. Same app, same internals. And you can get it often for around $40. The only difference I can tell is it only does 2 probes. Which is good enough for most. I use one probe for grill temp when smoking and one in the meat.

Why Bluetooth sound bars and speakers range is many times higher with the same phone? I will test range on battery powered Bluetooth speakers I have

I use 2-3 thermometers at the same time since they all read the temperature differently. The frequency on some radio ones is probably close to 100 feet

P.S. you can get these on eBay for about the same price. to me that's a better deal particularly if eBay has some incentives and you have gift cards you want to get rid of
