From my experience, the eggshell is simply a foam cushion (not memory foam) which is worlds apart from actual memory foam. Memory foam is the game changer however thickness is up to the person of how much they want to sink into the bed. Typically memory foam adapts perfectly to whatever shape or part needs support. Unless your bed is super firm, 1.5" should be enough and cooler on the skin however 3" is best for those who want it cozier and warmer since you'll sink further in. Hope this helps.

It is memory foam that goes on top of the mattress for an extra layer of support/comfort. We were looking for one for my son's full mattress and I ran across these. Prices seemed pretty good. Most seem to be all time best prices. Couple were a few dollars from the best.

What thickness did you get and have you received it already? I'm going to bounce between 2 places for the foreseeable future and will only put an old twin in the apartment. I prefer firm mattresses. The twin is old, and cheap. Do you think 1.5" will make a world of difference?

We are looking to add a memory foam topper to our fold out couch. Any suggestions for the 1.5 or the 3.0 depth? I don't want to buy the 1.5 if it's not even going to be noticeable.

These are quite expensive when compared to The BIG One that goes on sale at Kohl's several times a year. Got my queen topper with 3 new pillows for like $20 or something

I have the Queen sized Zinus Green Tea bed-in-a-box mattress from Amazon.

I find the mattress to be a bit hard. Will this topper soften it up a bit?

Also, I used to have a memory foam topper I purchased at Big Lots...and it had an "egg shell" kind of design. I'm noticing this one from Zinus is a flat design. Is there any difference?

I'm looking for a bit softer of a feel than the standard bed-in--box Zinus from Amazon.

About what I would say. Although the 3" might also be better on an old mattress with problems or one firm but with a pattern you feel.

You are also right about it can make you warm and even sweat. I went to latex because it did that to me. The thinner one does that less especially with a thick mattress pad over it.

I suggest also a thick mattress pad. Then it can be washed and it protects the pad. However if you want the warmth a thin one would be better. If you get cold and do not sweat this might help you sleep better especially the 3" one.
