Did some quick research:

This TV has popped up many times on SD (very recently at $799 during prime day on both Amazon and walmart)

Looks like the biggest complaint is viewing angle as per amazon reviews.

I own this TV and, for the size/price it's a great unit. HDR10, Wide Gamut, 10-bit panel, quick responses, 120HZ native, useful gaming and cinema modes.

The upscaling abilities are truly fantastic. Standard definition colors pop and it all but eliminates the jagged lines unless you're blindingly close.

Gaming on my One X and PS4 (base) has been a revelation. I'm seeing colors and details that I didn't know existed.

The only downside is somewhat of color degrading at an angle but by comparison with my old RCA unit this TV has a better picture when it's off versus that old set. 🤣

At this price point you'd have to truly want something else or specifically want Dolby Atmos which this unfortunately does not have.

This is Sony's third string entry in the 2018 lineup, behind the 900F and 850F. Good TV for the price.

Tempting to buy. But I'll pass it for now and looking for the same prime day deal on Amazon.

Yeah my buddy has one and wanted to show it off. Great front view, but everybody else from the side has a worse view.

In my opinion Sony's low end is still better than any TLC/Hisense or a comparable mid-grade from Samsung or LG. My reasoning is due to the Sony processing of SD content and upscaling HD content. You don't have the jagged edges or a blurry mess, the colors really pop and you can't beat the size/price in this section without paying 30+% more for a true high-end unit from the competition.

Give me the 6 series all day, though giving up 5 inches to save 20%.

TCL 6 Series, or Vizio P Series Quantum will smoke this Sony.

Not my experience at all. This TV is great for gaming.
