Where do you see the $70 off @ Amazon? Are you referring to the $70 off you can get if you apply and are approved for their Visa Card?

Looks like the $70 is a manufacturer's coupon as it states $70 off on Costco's website.
https://www.costco.com/Samsung-Ga...54125.html

meant to say why it should be available at Amazon and applicable to both 42mm and 46mm.

My solar/atomic G Shock recently died and I am very conflicted on replacing with a G Shock Rangeman [amazon.com] ($195), or making the jump to a smartwatch and getting this.

I just feel like smartwatches are still kind of novelty devices and haven't matured enough yet. I never took my G Shock off, but with this I'd have to take it off every other day or so to charge it, and if I planned to keep it more than a couple years I'm sure the battery would degrade and have an even shorter life. I like all the tech features/connectivity of a smart watch, but it doesn't seem like a watch to me yet. I see it as more of a second small phone that is strapped to your arm.

Anyone else struggle with this decision? What did you end up doing?

I am with you, I have a Garmin Vivofit 3 that I change the battery in once a year. I like the idea of a smartwatch especially if I can load some music on it and not have to carry my phone when I run. I think I am going to be on the sidelines until I see a deal I cannot pass up like a 50% sale or closeout. Costco / Amazon ran the Samsung Frontier 3 on sale around $129 a few months back and I wish I had jumped on that.

I am in a similar boat as you, I have a Pro Trek (amazon [amazon.com]) and LOVED it as my daily. I work out 4-5 times a week and have my phone in my pocket for music at the gym and used pro trek for timing rests in between sets.
I bought the galaxy watch today because in theory, it will let me combine all of those needs into one device. Specially important as a I am getting into running, GPS and heart rate stats are a game changer.
