You can catch a cheap AirAsia flight from Bangkok to Phuket. It's going to fly out of a different airport then you fly into though on the other side of Bangkok.

Was fitted for a suit in Hong Kong a few years ago. Didn't take it as the fit was horrible. A decent off the rack suit here in NY is a better bet.
The Asian cuisine on the other hand fit the bill.

Magnificent Hindu/Buddhist Temples and monuments in Bangkok and nearby Ayutthaya (named after Ayodhya in India) are amazing. Street food is clean, cheap and delicious (Warning! You will never be able to enjoy Chinese food after you taste Thai street food). Clothes shopping used to be the biggest attraction in the 80's but it is still a plus. Unfortunately, Thailand is infamous for it's sex trade which is everywhere including Dubai and Europe, but Thailand gets a bad name for it more than other places.

India is the birthplace of Hinduism and Buddhism, but countless Islamic invasions' erosion and impact becomes quickly evident as soon as you step outside the airport. After 700 years of oppressive Muslim rule, and subsequently brutal British colonial rule of 200 years, India is improving but it will take a long time to recover it's ancient glory. Meanwhile you can explore a similar Hindu/Buddhist culture with the comfort of ultra modern lifestyle and infrastructure in Thailand. That is why millions of Indians themselves holiday in Thailand more than their own country.

I don't mean any disrespect, but If you're asking this question, then I must say ... you're missing a lot about Thai culture. Just go to all Buddha temples and they have many of them. Just being their itself is worth it
