Because no other laptop comes close to it in terms of weight. This thing weighs less than most 13 laptops

You pay a premium for build weight and design. Not sure if you are aware of that. Most 15" ultrabooks are 4lbs or heavier. This at 2.5lbs is lighter than a xps13

Most people blindly seeing plastic as cheap, without true reasoning. This cabon plastic may bear lg more cost than aluminum to achieve lightweight with MIL durability

Only Ultrabook with upgradable ram and SSD.

It comes with proprietary charger but it would charge through USB-C. Ideally 45W adapter but it would support slower charge from less powerful ones

I just recently bought a 14" model. It's great. Doesn't feel flimsy, unbelievably fast boot/start-up and it's so light..... Feels like a hollowed out replica, or something. I'm impressed and quite happy with it.
This model here may not have the Thunderbolt 3 or touchscreen (I didn't check) but it's a solid buy.
