Or rebrands everything....design looks similar to the 'Danby' brand, which is probably a rebrand of another brand/generic China design, etc.

So usually they just put badge name. It's quite common these days.

The difference between Amazon and others are other manufacturers might outsource complete manufacturing or components but Amazon just buys the white label items and slap a sticker on them. But considering you're getting a installation and delivery for the price, it might be a value.

You can also look into AliExpress for similar items (possibly shipped across the globe) for better deals.

To be fair, a good # of Amazon basics products r rated quite well by independent testers so they tend to slap their name on some pretty decent to high quality stuff. No clue about their a.c.'s tho. I know their synthetic motor oil tested top tier by a trusted reviewer who runs tests on many products.

Yep. I think I read the review at Bob's. Amazon is customer obsessive to the most part so I am not lookin for the product being bad. They just leverage profit from economies of scales and monopoly.

Project farm (YouTube channel) did oil testing. Love that guy. Sponsored by no1, just likes to know what performs best for whatever the project or need is.

Offhand it looks to be very similar to the SPT Window units. Even seems to have the same "Follow me" feature. I've got a 12k SPT unit in my living room (without the follow me) and it's been solid and worked well.

One of the reviewers said it's identical to the SPT model, which costs much more. It's probably just re-badged and sold for way less. Consumer wins.

exactly, the idea of something like "amazon basics" is presumably they tested it to some base standard of quality (in theory anyway). same for any store brand. it all comes from china.

a little off topic, but given the high pricing of central heat and air repair (most major repair will, result in the oll "ya might as well just replace the whole thing", which will run 3500-5000, and I'm sure thats cheap EG small house, low texas red state prices etc), i'm half tempted next time my central heat pump unit has a major snafu in my house, to run something like this for a while. Although This exact unit may be a bit small. I believe these units can be purchased that cool up to 800SF on a 110v plug (a necessity to avoid costly rewiring and defeat the purpose) and I'll just close off the bedroom I dont use in my 1100 sq ft house. well i've thought about it anyway lol. $200-400 vs 5000 is mighty tempting.

Get a split unit... same performance as central hvac but with the convenience (installation/repairs) of a window unit
