Ting Mobile Data-only 30 GB for $25 per month

Ting Mobile has 30 GB data-only plan for $25 per month. Must purchase their Franklin R850 portable hotspot ($40 new, $25 refurb + $8 shipping + taxes) to use it. I live in a metro area and have Sprint LTE coverage, get average 100 ms ping, and 4 Mbps download speeds. Sprint coverage may vary, but this is the most GB per dollar deal I've found, for home or on-the-go internet access (as long as one isn't a heavy HD video streamer).

After their freepop fiasco, and what appears to be zero customer or technical service, I would go with another option.

Might be better off with the new unit due to replacement batteries are $20 and up.

Luckily ordering & activating went without any issues for me, so no need to deal with people service.

The hotspot allows running with battery taken out and plugged in any micro-usb power source, which is what I'm doing to preserve battery for only when I need to be portable. And even then could run it off an external battery pack, instead of internal.

Price is tempting. Still using my ATT $35 a month unlimited Hotspot service. Wonder if it's time that I leave them...

It's still available. Google "ATT $35 ipad plan" and you should find the relevant information on some reddit posts.

If you make less than $50K/year, then the mobile citizen plans are much better. $12/month for unlimited use.
