I did not buy, as I still find the Roborock S5 to be a better product at a better price, but some people swear by these.

20% coupons are YMMV. I saw a 20% coupon last week for D6 and D7 models but not many people had it in their accounts.

These Neatos are supposed to work in the dark right? I was going to get a Roomba, but read they can't work at night. I'd like this thing to clean up the day's dog hair while I sleep. I don't want a Xiaomi product.

22% 1-star reviews is high for a robot. Norm for anything half decent is < 10%.

Yup, has a lidar and works in the complete darkness. I have a D5 and it's great. Never had any Roomba products so I can't compare.

The whole Neato D-series is pretty similar, the d7 is top of the line and one thing it has that all the others dont is zone cleaning. You can have it clean a certain room. Otherwise the other models just have different battery sizes, brushes and finishes.

One thing I noticed was that the wheels and squegee was quite loud when brand new on our vinyl planks. After a month of two, they quite down significantly.

As a former Roborock owner and a current Neato owner, the cleaning performance of the Neato is much better. The Roborock would pickup much less when run on the same floor. The software features of the Roborock are better than the Neato though.

I ordered a D7 from Amazon warehouse for ~$100 cheaper that is still within the return window. Is it worth returning and buying this for the one year warranty? The unit I have was basically new been and has been working great so far, but it's completely up to me if it breaks down

No one can answer that for you. It's depends on your tolerance for risk. For me, these things have too many moving and electronic parts to go without a good warranty.
