Can connect it with a DJI drone to use as it's display by chance?

This is quite a good deal on a respected product line that rarely sees discounts. I imagine most prospective buyers already know what it does & whether or not they truly need it.

eg, a7s ii outputs 8bit 4:2:2 but only records internally 8bit 4:2:0

may be due to internal thermal constraints, can't process and dissipate heat enough internally,so they limit the internal bitrate

Because internal recording is often at a lower bit rate and colorspace. Many of the better cameras output higher quality on the HDMI for external recorders to take advantage of. It all comes down to available processor power onboard the camera.

probably cost & space ... this thing looks HUGE ... imagine trying to squeeze that into a camera (minus the screen size)

Great recorder, but it really needs to be this price to compete with Ninja V, which while dimmer (not that many will notice), 2" inches smaller and lacking the 2nd battery slot (which you can mimic with the expansion slot) can do ProRes RAW (eventually) and has the expansion slots for SDI, networking and timecode and is quieter (fan noise).
I think both have their place, if it was this price when I bought my 2nd Ninja V, I may have bought this instead, since my D850 can't do ProRes RAW anyway.

It is huge because it's a 7" screen. The 5" is more manageable in term of weight and heft but, of course, it has a smaller viewing area.... and it's not on sale....

The camera's sensor usually captures more information than can be transferred to its internal recording media. Let's say the sensor captures 400Mb/s worth of data, but the camera records to SD cards with a limit of 100Mb/s of data. The camera can use compression to fit that data on the SD card, or it can send uncompressed (or at least less compressed) data along the HDMI connection.

I recommend that you install Monitor Hood on this screen to block peripheral light when shooting outside under bright sun.

I am on a budget. I installed P&C VF-4 LCD Viewfinder ($80) on my Canon SL2 DSLR with 3" LCD Monitor. I also ordered Bluestar Large Oval Microfiber Eyecushion. Now when I look through the viewfinder, the LCD monitor looks enormous! Last week I was shooting outside and I could see incredible detail. The viewfinder blocked peripheral light from the bright sun.

I know the best feature is its ability to record, but if you want a monitor and dont need the recorder then go with a feelworld. The quality is excellent for right around 150.
