I just can't buy LG phones anymore until they make some serious changes. I bought a G7 for Google Fi in December. It's been 1 year since Pie was released and there's no update in sight. I'm still on the 8.0 (not even 8.1) February security patch. I had 9.0 on my Moto X4 by the time my LG arrived.

I was stoked about the the supposed audio benefits, but I have had several issues including one that lasted 3 or 4 months (now fixed), where sound wouldn't work after a headset (read: any headphones with a mic) was plugged in. I had restart my phone several times a week.

The screen is good, and when it works the sound improvements are nice, but it's not that snappy for the hardware, the camera is so-so at best, and if I have to wait a year for Android updates then I'm not interested.

I had a G4, V30 and now a G7. Not one phone is reliable. I LOVED my G4 before it and the replacement phone bootlooped. If I wasn't so cheap, I would move on from LG. I can't stand curved glass and Samsung only uses it. My G7 doesn't although the V30 did.
Why not get the Samsung s10e? It has flagship specs and has a flat screen.

Total BS statement.
Not if you lurk around some of the LG subreddits. There's a reason LG phone prices drop so precipitously.

Not a bad price for this phone at all. Has impressive hardware at this price point. Could see it come down to around $399 in the next few months though. LG struggles big time with trying to re-gain is fan base after many years of total crap phones but so far the g6 g7 and g8 have been pretty good.
G2 was great(was basically a branded Nexus 5). G3 was good performance wise, but this was when the "LG Bootloop" started to really show and come commonplace in quite a few of their phones. G3 was great for the first couple months before you encountered the bootloop, huge battery degradation, or random bricking. G4 suffered mainly from the bootloop. G5 was a great phone(overlooking the modular part), only real downside was the screen burn-in you'd face not too long after owning, or even from day 1 if you were really unlucky. I currently have a G5 still as one of my many backups, and I quite enjoy it, but the burn in is a bit too annoying. At the price of $80 on ebay that I paid spring 2018 for it, I can't complain too much.

Prove me wrong. When was the last time you see a LG flagship phone in the wild?

LG's phones are for audiophile with fancy headphones. For others, there are better options out there. I am in if <350

I have been waiting on the asus zenfone 6 to be available here in the states for about a year now, but this lg g8 is very tempting! My Father is still rocking a Lg G5 which he loves because of the easily swappable battery, but I am not to impressed with its durability which makes me hesitant to jump on this deal. Sure he can just get another lg g5 for around $100 used on ebay, but he is on his 3rd one over the past couple of years. The pins on the inside back of the phone can fatigue and break over time which I had to solder back so the volume down button would work. His camera and headphone jack crapped the bed which were sourced and replaced. His wifi reception atrophied too which I could not figure out before that phone ate some pavement while he was on a ladder. He still loves it though, even on his 3rd one.

All that was just to say that this really seems like a good deal to me, but I cannot get myself to jump on this. It has better band coverage for my carrier (att) than the zenfone 6, and it is available right now! The asus zenfone 6 has a cheaper (good nuff) lcd that would be cheaper to replace if cracked and wouldnt suffer burn in or the blue led fade known in oled. I have got some soul searching to do, but I need to retire my iphone 6s.

This is a bit tempting. I hear LG is, at minimum, easier to root than my previous phones so you could get amazon's cruft off of it.

Also, none of the pixels meet my needs. Not enough storage space.
Lg is not easier to root anymore. No one is able to root the g8 and for most variants of the g7 you need an octopus box. They haven't even released an international version with an unlockable bootloader for the g8 last time I checked.

Lg does a huge rebate every year. It keeps me loyal, 2 years ago I got 2 lg g6 and a tablet from t-mobile for $300 since they did an e-check rebate and tmobile did bill credits. Last year I got 2 Lg v30+ each with 2 free mini projectors coming out at $400 total between b1g1 and bill credits. If you wait the LG rebates always stack with a t-mobile one when they want to get rid of their phones and you get an even stellar deal. I'm holding out for another deal this year.

Many pp who owned many LG flagships in the past wouldn't buy another LG phone even at discounted price. The only way for them to get some users back is giving 18-24 months warranty or even life-time warranty if the phone has bootloop issue.
Why do people make such ridiculous statements on a public forum?

I had a g7 I traded in for an s10e and have been way happier. The g7 was fine but the reliability of Samsung stands out significantly after switching.

LG G4 killed LG brand. I still have LG V20 and I am fine. New ones go for $120 on EBay.
