Good deal, I'd say! I have the 4GB model and it's great. Doesn't overheat and gives me med high to high in almost everything paired with a 4770.

Only downside, no backplate, and the PCB noticeably warps/sags over time, so have a plan in place for that.

I'm kind of out of the video card loop; is the RX580 still the best AMD midrange card in this price range or is there something better (or something new to be released soon)?

Dont get this MK1 version. Get the red MK2 version if you can. This thing over heats easily.

I'd say the 1660ti is mid-range.. this is sorta low-end imo (not saying it's a BAD card.. but at this point in time.. this isn't mid-range) I would recommend a rx580 to someone who is on an extreme budget.

I can't find a Mk2 version of this 580 card, only a Mk2 version of the 570 card. Can you link the Mk2 version of this 580 card? TIA!

The 570 version of this card is currently $30 cheaper AR - is this 580 version worth the extra 30 bucks? I'm looking for entry level gaming parts, and it seems to me that $30 might be better spent on more (or faster) RAM or a larger capacity SSD. I just wonder if the performance difference in these cards (570 vs. 580) would even be noticeable.

For gaming, the 30 dollars would be better spent on the GPU than ram. May be an even spend for SSD capacity

There's tons of videos on YouTube of people bench-marking different GCs (or CPUs, etc.) for games, they often will present them side by side so you can see how the FPS and other metrics vary for each component being looked at.
