Due to the protests, all outbound flights from Hong Kong airport cancelled today. So if you are trying to fly out of Hong Kong or just transiting through Hong Kong today, keep that in mind. If you are in HK trying to leave today and you must leave, an option might be Shenzhen or even Guangzhou airport if you have a Chinese visa and can cross the border. Although public transit might be a problem since some of that has been shutdown due to the protests as well.

Also, for the rest of the city, there are large protests as well as another general strike called for in the next few days.

Not a repost at all. That post was about one airline canceling flights along one route from HK to Manila due to business reasons. This post is about Hong Kong airport being shutdown period for all airlines.

It's just not that nurse losing an eye, at least that was accidental. It's hard to aim a "rubber" bullet. Contrary to what's being reported in the west that it's just a bunch of college kids protesting, it's all sorts of people protesting including a lot of older people. There's video of a grandmother in "distress". If that happens to an old granny, what do you think will happen to you if you draw the cops attention. Remember, China considers the protest in HK as an American assault on Chinese sovereignty. They have linked it to the trade war.

My response in that thread is pretty much your post. Thus a little bit.

Please keep watch on Hong Kong.
The world needs to be watching.
China is moving their troops towards Hong Kong's border as we speak.

Protect Hong Kong. Freedom in Hong Kong.

Protesters and riot police are fighting at the airport as I write this but the airport is still open although many flights have been cancelled. The airport was closed yesterday not because of the protesters, since the protesters are very good at letting people move about, but because the government decided to shut it down.

It seems that Terminal 2 is relatively calm according to the news reports and that's where stranded tourists are sleeping. Terminal 1 is where the conflict is.
