HELP! Phone is dying... Stick with Tmobile or Leave

67 10 August 12, 2019 at 11:08 AM
My wife and I originally had VZW 3yrs ago. Service was terrible at my work (Lehigh Valley PA)

We switched to Tmobile when they ran their S8 BOGO and we've been happy with the service on T-mobile...
Faat forward to now... Her phone has a crack in the glass by the earpiece and my phone is taking a shit... Seriously burnt screen, errors, performance drop battery life drop etc (I use my phone heavily for my job.)

All the T-Mobile phone deals seem to be aimed at bringing in outside customers (understandable) and adding line(s)... Which I do want to do.

I've been racking my brain over this crap for a few months now and I feel I need to make a decision fairly soon...

Is there anyway to upgrade phone(s) at a good price/discount WITHOUT adding lines so we can stick with T-Mobile...

Can I add a line and then cancel my wife's current line and switch her to the newly added line?? (guessing she couldn't port her number over... Could she??)

Ooooorrr, would it be better to switch carriers solely to save on the phones... Seeing how the plans seem higher through AT&T & VZW.

I could REALLY use some HELP!!

Much appreciated!

Can't cancel a line within 3 months of getting an add-a-line promos, but you can cancel an unaffected line anytime you want after. For instance, you add a line, you get the two new phones for the price of one, then the new dummy number and one of the existing lines can use the devices, but you'll need to keep it active until you pay off the line, then you can cancel the new number and officially use the device on your original number.

Other option is to port out to google voice, get the new line, cancel the old line, port in the number from google voice to the new line.

Just go to swappa.com and get a replacement used T-mobile phone that is in good to mint condition. Get a model you like. Unless you want the latest and greatest phone and want to spend 700+ doing it, there is no reason to not get a used phone of an older model on the cheap and just have it activated on your account\replace your current phone\line imo.

If you do want the latest and greatest, I saw a thread with BOGO note10 phones at Costco. One new line required. So if you don't mind one fresh number, that would work. I am sure you can do a dance with porting numbers around and back to tmo if you wanted...but I can't tell you how or what that entails.

Grab an S8 from ebay or other used site. The last 2 generations haven't seen much improvements anyhow.
