Will it work only with vinyl records or any other forms? Does it include speakers or to use external speakers? I am asking about RT80.
What other kind of records are there?

Speakers look really good, how do they compare to the Definitive Technology 8020 series?

Historically records have been made of many different materials, though vinyl has been the standard for 33-1/3 and 45rpm records for probably 75 years, if not more. Not sure if that is what the person was getting at, but the only other even remotely common kind of analog discs are 78s and this turntable will not play them, if for no other reason than that 78rpm is not one of the selectable playback speeds. In theory people might still have the even less common flexi-discs, the kind sometimes included in old Mad magazines for instance, but I doubt many are concerned about whether or not their new $300 turntable will play their 40y/o Mad magazine "Super Spectacular Day" flexi-disc insert. But yes, a Fluance will play those, too, I think they were 33-1/3 RPM. Applause

Yeah, it always is and how it's been for months. I didn't expect it to magically be up for order during a 20% off sale anyway.

I'm holding out for the RT85... one day I'll have you!

Does anyone know how the RT83 compares to the pro-ject debut carbon?

Seems like the fluance has auto stop and easier speed adjustment, but hard to find a direct comparison online.

Just buy the RT83 (or even 82 if you're happy with black) and buy a 2M Blue. This essentially gives you everything the RT85 has, minus the acrylic platter. On the flipside, you'll now have an extra cartridge in case the other goes bad, and I keep hearing that Fluance will eventually sell the acrylic platters, which will give you an RT85.
For this customization, should I buy the 2m blue stylus from Fluance and swap the blue stylus onto the cartridge that the red stylus is on, or should I buy a full 2m blue cartridge from somewhere like amazon?

Also, what is a recommended pre-amp for the rt-83? Any other parts needed besides stylus upgrade & pre-amp, if one already owns quality speakers & receiver?

How about color? Black or walnut? Can't decide.......................
