I kind of question their recent choices.

I've had lifetime licenses just stop working after an update... They offered a year license in exchange when I contacted support, I'm not the only person at least based on their subreddit.

Recently they added pop up ads on their free version. Personally rather just have windows defender do it's thing and maybe install once in a while and scan, then uninstall.

I assume I can buy now and activate later. Last time I put in the key about a month before my current subscription expired and it didn't add on it just took away a month

What I attempted to say was. Its hindsight now if you dont have the key but malwarebytes did this too me. I had a lifetime license and I updated and the licenses was removed. I kept the licensing information in a file and tried to put it in malwarebytes but it didnt work. I had to create a sign in on malwarebytes website and add the key there. From there I was able to download a licensed version for a lifetime. If you dont have the key this wont help.

They are incredibly pushy about upgrading. Now they default to the premium trial and bug you repeatedly until it expires.

Yeah, there are also popups after it expires. Had a couple for discount on upgrades. That was kind of the last straw for me, uninstalled after that.

... snipped ...
Have you been to their support forums about this?

They had an update not too long ago that killed a lot of peoples' lifetime licenses. They got a ton of complaints on their support forum about that.

They posted the process for how to reinstate your lifetime license, assuming the license is legitimate, and explained what a legitimate lifetime license is (i.e., it is only valid for one PC).

The best they were able to do was offer me 1 year sub for 3 PCs.

After I showed them proof of purchase, they told me that the seller I got my license from on amazon was not legit or something along those lines.

For some unknown reason, when I click the link from my initial comment it brings me to the wrong page, even though the link address is correct. If you just Google search "MalwareBytes student discount" you should find the correct page
