The thing that hurts them to me, is the stupid process of removing the discs and putting the box on the shelf. Then needing to rifle their grubby hands to get the disc and put it back in a case that a bunch of other grubby people have touched.

If I'm buying a brand new physical copy of something, I want an unopened, brand new copy of something.
That has always been one of their shady practices! Many times I was told a game was new but unsealed with a piece of tape over it...

trading in games bought from RedBox works right? I just have to take off the sticker on the disc?
I traded in a few redbox games before, didn't take off the stickers. Just don't try to trade in 3 or 4 copies of the same game. I'd say it mostly depends on what employee you get. If you wanna trade multiple copies of the same game go to multiple Gamestops.

so if I have a bunch of old sports games that are at $.50 can I trade it in and get $5 for it or does the game have to have a value of $2 to get the deal? I'm not seeing that anyone has clarified it.

$5 Bonus Credit on Video Game Trade-ins with Trade-in Value of $2+.

What has to be clarified?

Does your $.50 game have a trade in value of $2 dollars or more?

Is this $5 for each game you trade in?

For example if I trade in three $2 games, I will get $6 (for the games) + $15 (for this promo) = $21

Or will I get $6 (for the games) + $5 (for this promo) = $11

Each game gets it

Each game, yes. I traded 38 games and got almost $200 extra.

Your Gamestop lied to you unless you were trying to trade some old sports games. Check the value of your games in the OP link.

I've had a couple games I've been trying to sell through Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, and Craigslist over the last week. Competitive prices, but no takers except for Sekiro at $30. Amazon and Best Buy trade in values weren't any better than Gamestop's. Estarland had a couple higher trade in prices, but they weren't even accepting trades for most of my games and the shipping cost they'd take out of only sending 2-3 games just didn't make it worth it.

With this promotion I ended up getting more than I was asking for on Far Cry 5 (asked for $10 on FB/OfferUp/CL, got $10.50 from GS), Dark Souls Remastered (A: $15, GS: $16), Dark Souls 2 (A: $10, GS: $14.90), Dark Souls 3 (A: $10, GS: $14.90), Titanfall 2 (A: $5, GS: $7.20), Prey (A: $5, GS: $7.20), Resident Evil Origins (A: $10, GS: $13.80) and Shadow of War (A: $5, GS: $7.20).

I got a little less than I was looking for on Monster Hunter World (A: $15, GS: $13.80), Fractured But Whole (A: $10, GS: $7.20), and Fallout 76 (A: $15, GS: $10.50), but considering I couldn't find buyers I'm not particularly bothered by the lower TiV.

I balked at the $21.50 Gamestop was offering for Resident Evil 2 because I figured I shouldn't have a problem finding somebody to buy it for $30 eventually, but it's $38 new on Amazon and part of a B1G1 50% so I might just trade it in towards the end of this Gamestop promotion if I can't find anybody to buy it for at least $25 by then.

I don't think I'd trade half the games I did if I was just getting their regular trade in values at Gamestop, but this promotion is pretty great.
Yup, same here. Dug out a bunch of games I couldn't flip and scratched, no case etc. for this amazing deal.

I took advantage of this yesterday. I ended up trading terraria (in generic case) and owl boy for $25 in credit. I haven't had any luck selling these locally and GameStop is offering better than Amazon. I really like game stop but you have to be smart in how you deal with them. I generally end up making profit on almost every game I buy but I don't do that by just walking in on a normal day and buying/selling. You have to wait for the sales/deals to pop up.
