If you have really a lot of papers to scan and you value your time I suggest something like this:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...anner.html

which has been as low as $288 recently:
https://slickdeals.net/f/13200199-fujitsu-scansnap-ix1500-document-scanner-288-80-free-shipping?attrsrc=Test%3AHideExpiredSearch%3AControl&src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1
For the life of me, I couldn't get the double coupon to work on that deal.

I really don't need another printer, but if I got this deal I would give my Ricoh c250DN to a friend. I have a Brother TN-630 I've been using to do the scanning (it has an ADF) but it is single-sided which makes duplex docs a bit of a pain.

I was just hoping (being the cheap slickdealer I am) that this would suffice.

I bought this for 180 on a previous deal, and went from a samsung black and white MFP. I like the printer, the duplex printing is nice, I haven't really had any issues with the printer/scanning/print quality, but one thing that frustrates the mess out of me is when it starts/warms up randomly while it's in my office, it makes a RACKET and it's so upsetting.

Is this printer worth it for people who don't print much? A lot of mixed reviews here

I was about to buy this until I read your comment. I work from home with my printer right next to me, and there is no way I want to deal with that. Do you think yours is malfunctioning somehow, or is this just standard operation for this printer?

Cost of a toner kit for this printer costs is as much as the printer...
Even more relevant when replacement toner for several Canon/HP models is available for 1/3-1/2 the price of these replacement models with similar print lifetimes.

Someone might make generic brand replacements changing the game, but for now, it's not great.

I have the same experience--it's annoying but manageable, definitely not upsetting. One thing to note though is the startup current on this thing is pretty high, so if you're using it on a standard 15A circuit in your house with a computer/monitors/other office appliances, you will probably see your lights flicker when you use it. It's a fact of life with pretty much all laser printers, similar to 3D printers as well. Still a great value, I paid this price on Black Friday last year and am still up around 80% left of all 4 toner colors.

I have had this printer for two years. Absolutely a nightmare .Takes too long to print even one page. Paper Get stuck too often . I would not recommend even at $100 price range. Not worth the hassle. That being said toner is pretty cheap and easy to fill-in.

You post goes against all previous comments: Most like the printer AND complain about the high ink price.

Are you just trolling or is it a legit concern?

I've had one for a couple of years. Never had a paper jam. Replaced the black toner with an aftermarket cartridge with no trouble. Scanned hundreds of pages- no problem. Print quality is excellent. It is a little loud. My only gripe is that I can't get it to work with vuescan. Otherwise great device.

These are giant printing trash cans.

Needed a color printer and a scanner for expense reports. Loud, slow, huge, auto feeder is jammed after one year of usage with like 4 print/scan jobs per month.

Cant tell sometimes if it's a garbage truck outside or this printer warming up for no reason.

No, that's the whole point. They make nothing on the printer so that they can make $$$ on the toner.

So you, not being a helpless idiot, throw out the printer when the cartridges run out.
just get the toners from Ebay,

This one! I have the printer only version (SP C250DN) and refilled to toner pretty easily with a screwdriver.
https://youtu.be/uNXs43AhnYo
refill kits cost like $40 on ebay.

the new printer only version costs more than this all in one, so unless you need to save space this is a good value.

I second this one. I bought it for my small business but since i am actually trying to pay myself as much a s i can i used the tm toner refill kits off ebay. Easy and cheap. I print a lot.

That said I think there is always a lot of toner left after the chip quits.. considering just getting some chips and see how much you actually get until the quality decreases...

I also feed it 22 lb paper from hp (again really cheap on amazon). All my documents come out amazing quality and look very professional rather than cheap home printer quality.

I second this too. In fact when I refilled my black starter toner it looked like the thing was still half full and it was the starter chip that was gimped. For those buying this printer it may be worth while just swapping the chip the first time round it complains about being out of toner.
