Is this printer worth it for people who don't print much? A lot of mixed reviews here
In general laser printers are much better at sitting idle as there are no print heads to gum up.

You post goes against all previous comments: Most like the printer AND complain about the high ink price.

Are you just trolling or is it a legit concern?
It is a legit concern . I actually got the bh deal on Black Friday 2 years back . I am fed up with the printer. I use it now only to print color copies once in a while and the copies are quite good when it decides to print. For all other uses I use the Samsung 2020. The refill is easy and cheap. You have to just open couple of screws fill it and change the chips. The toner costs like $40 with the reset chips. Maybe I got a bad machine but look on RICOH website about it and read reviews and you will know what I am saying. That being said like a true sder I am trying to extract what ever I can before I can get a new printer

Like couple of previous posters said, there are cheap toner options on Ebay if you are a bit handy - https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-time-4...1790060879

I have this printer and this has issues with drivers. Also most of the time it doesn't wakeup from sler3. Need to reboot.
It looks like there is a firmware update that was released 6/11/2019 that addresses that issue. Go to ricoh-usa.com to find it

We have the professional copiers of this brand at our work and they get the job done but are rough around the edges compared to the sharp copiers we had at my last job. The color printer especially is slow as molasses, and these are new machines we got just a couple of months ago. Never heard of this brand until these got installed. Don't know how that translates to this consumer model, but I would go with something different just from my experience at work with this brand if it's anything like the one we have in our office you will make up the cost difference of a better brand in better productivity.

The duplex scanning works very well. I use it with a mac with the built in image-capture program.

It's every 24 hours, but yes it is super annoying. I love everything about this printer except the 24 hour loud wakeup. Each time it wakes up, it then stays awake for maybe 10 minutes then goes back to sleep. So, the 24 hour wakeup is actually slightly later in the day every day, eventually happening late at night.

Since I don't print a lot, I just completely turn the printer off when not using it. It's a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things.

All the good cards USED TO offer it. Now that benefit is very rare. I think Citi was the last major card issuer to kill that benefit as of some date this year. Theirs was called price rewind. There were threads about it when each major bank killed that particular perk across nearly all of their cards.
You're partly right. Looks like they killed it on Discover It & Chase Freedom in late 2018, but I didn't check the rest.

AMEX STILL OFFERS PRICE PROTECTION ON ALL THEIR CARDS
I consider it a good card.

They always side with the customer, and go out of their way to help you. I always put my electronics & expensive purchases on it, even though I can get 2% vs 1% on another card. Their 5% on 3 categories is great, but they're not expensive purchases, but very frequent (gas, drug stores & groceries including gift cards sold for many retailers)

True. I have an older version of this and the starter toners lasted quite a while. Replacements are expensive, but have much more toner than the ones included. You have to remember this isn't an inkjet. The toner cartridges are huge and built like a tank.
Yeah, after checking it based on my previous replies, it lasts 2300pgs, which is amazing on a color laser. & others have stated refill kits are $40 & $10 per chip.

My color laser cartridges only lasted 500pgs (chip). I use it as a base for a stack of crap in my closet now, ever since I ran out of black & saw it was $80.

Toner prices are high on this, but I got the printer only version of this device a couple years ago and am still on the initial toner cartridges. YMMV, of course, but it's been a great printer overall.
Does it have duplex for print, copy and scan, fax?

I was about to buy this until I read your comment. I work from home with my printer right next to me, and there is no way I want to deal with that. Do you think yours is malfunctioning somehow, or is this just standard operation for this printer?
I have the printer only version of this unit and yes, it randomly "fires up" and it is not a quiet machine when it does so. Turn on the energy saver options and that cuts down a lot on this issue, however. Takes a bit longer to warm up and print but stays quiet then.

For the life of me, I couldn't get the double coupon to work on that deal.

I really don't need another printer, but if I got this deal I would give my Ricoh c250DN to a friend. I have a Brother TN-630 I've been using to do the scanning (it has an ADF) but it is single-sided which makes duplex docs a bit of a pain.

I was just hoping (being the cheap slickdealer I am) that this would suffice.
If the brother uses TN660 Cartridges, DO NOT GET RID OF IT!.

When buying a color laser especially, checking toner cost should be the #1 factor. Price of machine 2nd, since you'll generally spend many times the printer cost for the 4 cartridges.

So, compare this to your current one in costs, and if your old one uses generic cartridges too (make sure chips included in prices) & if either has a separate drum, what that cost is. If refilling powder & chips yourself, remember that you'll get max 3 times out of it (2 refills), before the drum dies slowly & print becomes very faint

TN660 CARTRIDGES:
Those cartridges are always $8/2 pack on slickdeals. Hell, I even paid $5.80/2 pack at one point.
1) The cartridges last longer
2) Its SOOOO CHEAP to print, vs this color laser, or practically any laser printer.

MY COLOR LASER TONER PRICE SHOCK:
>4 years ago, when I ditched my $100 SD all in 1 color laser right after finishing the black cartridge, I was horrified it was $80 for a 500pg cartridge (this one lasts 2300pgs).

CHEAPEST B&W LASER TONER SEARCH:
I searched threads and found the TN660 was dirt cheap at $13/2 pack. I checked every black & white laser printer for compatibility, till I found my $65 wireless brother fax all in one (tons of models & brands).

TN660 B&W CHEAPNESS @$4/CARTRIDGE:
I love my brother & that it costs nothing to print. $0.005-$0.008 per paper, and $0.0013 for toner. Usally paper is the cheaper item, w/ toner $0.027/pg

ALWAYS KEEP OLD B&W LASER + COLOR
Keep the old B&W if it uses the TN660. ONLY using this color laser for color, B&W on the brother.
