It cannot be easily unlocked using something such as R-SIM with the iPhones. Requires 12-months of service on Total Wireless to unlock; but can be used with an activated SIM from other America Movil-owned prepaid services if desired (TracFone, Straight Talk, Simple Mobile, Net10, and Page Plus). Please see the 'Notes' section of my post. Hope this helps Smilie

EDIT: This is a deal post for Total Wireless customers. Total Wireless is a prepaid MVNO alternative that provides service on Verizon's network.

Samsung outdid themselves with the Galaxy S8. This phone is too good even over 2 years later. Would be a good deal if it was easily unlocked.

Yeah. My wife has an S7 Edge and it's reeeeaaalllllly showing its age. But my S8 is still running like a champ.

Agreed... If it was easily unlockable, then this is a pretty decent deal.
I did not however see what Warranty does the phone carry

Just an observation on recommendation #2, the Amazon $25 gc is for byop unlocked unbranded phones. I tried to activate a Tracfone J3 Orbit and the rep said no. So I would assume any Tracfone, Straight talk, Total Wireless or Net 10 phones would not qualify for the $25 Amazon gc. I maybe wrong, but just saying that was my experience.

This is cheaper than buying an OEM LCD and digitizer panel to replace a cracked one. I wish there was an S8+ version

How does this compare with Moto Z3 or Z4 ?
I have some mods,so was planning to buy an unlocked z3 or z4
I have a tracfone ,so activating on tracfone shouldn't be an issue if I buy this.

After having the both the S8 and Z3, including having the Z3 on TW. I'd say I preferred the Z3, though my model had an issue where if it lost LTE it would get stuck on 3G until reboot.

The S8 also has a notably better camera, and it was nice to have wireless charging and ip68 certification.

But I enjoyed the more stock Android of the Z3, the Moto actions, and definitely longer battery life (without a mod).

Question: I've had Total Wireless with an older Samsung, which I brought to them as a BYOD. If I switched that SIM and had Total have the S8 use the SIM to connect, I could use the S8. What I wonder is whether Total would look at my account history and agree to unlock the S8? Please, let me have your thoughts. Thanks!

They look at when the IMEI of the specific phone was activated & it's 12 months of service after that for unlock.
