Not sure but this is a decent deal. Only difference between these and the series 2 is the google/alexa button and the newer version lacks the adapter that allows the headphones to plug into certain entertainment options on planes. Still trying to decide between these and the Sony WM1000XM3 but might just jump on these since it's through Costco..

I have these and for the most part I really like them. for double protection I put in regular ear plugs and put these over the ear plugs. I travel a lot and the worst part with the active noise cancellation is you can here your neighbors talking (to each other, not you) quite clearly. I had to listen to a couple arguing on a 15 hour flight...
