I travel all over the place ….. never saw anyone using one of these … maybe because most cell phones now have that steady , optical , anti-shake or whatever …. no need to pay 100 extra to have a steady video recording unlike in the old days ….

Lol. Its so much more than that. I have seen people use these and more advanced ones in my travels. Thats what made me take interest in them.

i just used mine in Thailand, China and South Korea and got amazing steady footage I couldnt get near the quality by holding my phone in my hand. Not to mention all the video effects and features it makes so much easier to use.

You should look more at what these are before you tell people they dont need it for the wrong reasons.

Good price op!

I have this and love it. I used to use my Nikon DSLR but that just became too big and bulky. I love the fact that phones now shoot pretty good video. It's still not perfect but more convenient.

I usually use it for my travels and it's been pretty good. The battery on this is also amazing. I can get over 10+ hours on a charge.

FYI, there is a bit of a learning curve.

Do all of these handheld gimbals need counterweights for phones like the S10+? I'm going to pick up one of these. Not sure which model to go with. Right now I'm leaning towards the Osmo Mobile 3 which is supposed to start shipping next week.

I don't know a ton about about these so any helpful info would be greatly appreciated Smilie

i remember paying $300 for something like this 3 years ago. now they are dirt cheap. in hindsight it was too bulky to whip out and it got little use. im glad software stabilization is finally here and cant wait for smartphones to have it.

I had one of these. The app was absolutely useless on my Android, all it did was crash. The device was useless so I sold it. Just my experience.

looks tempting with type C charging, but no joystick is what is holding me back. Reviews say you can never really get use to how the trigger and rotating the handle control. I like the included tripod, but probably going to wait for their next version, if there is going to be one, to hopefully fix all the complaints.

I have iPhone 8 plus and Xs Max, and I would go with Osmo 3 so I wouldn't have to worry about counterweights.

If you never used one maybe you should reserve judgement until you do some research instead of an off the cuff comment.

You may want to check out the Snoppa Atom 3 : Snoppa Atom 3 [snoppa.com]
Currently it appears to be the smallest with great battery life and fast setup.

It appears the Osmo Mobile 3 took its design queue form Snoppa Atom 3, which is good. Might have to sell my Osmo Mobile 2. It still appears to be quite larger than the Snoppa Atom 3.
Regarding your question about weights, it's best to research this on Youtube for the particular model your interested in. Youtube has a lot of videos for the various gimbals. I did buy weights for Osmo Mobile 2.
However, the Osmo Mobile 3 appears to have the same advantage as the Snoppa, namely, you don't need weights. My Snoppa is faster to setup because of the design.

Yeah, I have seen that complaint a lot with Android and Gimbals, particularly the Osmo as it seems to be geared more toward iOS.

Thanks. I did pre-order the Osmo 3. I was debating whether to cancel my order, but guess I won't now. Hopefully it won't need a counterweight as it will like be delivered right before my vacation and I wouldn't have time to buy a counterweight before my trip.

I think you made a good choice.
The Snoppa 3 is more money and DJI is better known brand.
I just looked at a couple of reviews on YT.
One thing I'm glad they did is bring back the trigger button.
First Osmo had one, Osmo mobile 2 they removed it.
For $119 bucks which is cheaper than the initial Osmo 2 price I think its a great deal.

Edit:
I don't think you will need weights as the design appears to be exactly like the Snoppa, which self balances so I never worry about bringing my weights.

One thing the Zhiyun has over DJI and Osmo is you can remote control the gimabal from second phone.
So you could place the Zhiyun on a tripod and sit back with a second phone and remotely view and control the motor on the gimbal.
People have been asking DJI for this so I hope it comes with Osmo mobile 3.

For everyday shooting you don't need a gimbal, but for some video it's essential. Your hand cannot keep a level horizon like a gimbal and if you're lifting the camera while shooting, to get a jib type of perspective, anti shake cannot compensate for that.

I have this. Use it sparingly as carrying one more piece of equipment is pain when traveling. Having said that, it is. A great device and the videos are really smooth and without shakes. This has a lot of functions, really a lot for videos and still photography including panoramas, time lapse etc. You can see some YouTube videos on this device and quite amazing. I have taken videos of my grandkids and it's worth it for me. The updated app (iOS) is amazing to create quality videos with effects and background music. Wish they had an ability to add custom sound track.
