very tempting. anyone want to tell me why I should buy this instead of the dell / alienware 34'' curved?
If you're not gaming anything above 60Hz and prefer to multitask equivalent to 2 x QHD monitor, this is the one. But if you're going to game above 60Hz, this will disappoint you. Also this monitor takes up a lot of footprint on your desk.

Personally I find UWQHD is more than enough for everyday use and gaming together. Unless you're going for 4k gaming then that's in a different level.

I'd bet $10 this is the exact same panel as in the Dell, which I have from that "refurb" (looked like an unopened return to me) deal. If so, it's a great panel, and LG usually does a decent job with trim and interface these days. Pretty good deal.

Seems so large. Is this equivalent of using 2 24in monitors for work?

not as good as the other 49 inch monitor posted for around 1000 new, e.g. the Philips and Dell.
remember open box are 90 day buydig warranty and NOT part of your credit card warranty extension program (they require manufacture warranty)

48" monitor, assuming the same aspect ratio and not ultrawide, would be four times the viewable area of a 24" monitor.

Except this IS ultrawide. Area is 623 while that of a 24" is 246

Equivalent to two 27" 16 : 9 monitors side by side actually

Omg wow I made the mistake of buying ultrawide once and almost did it again. Thanks for pointing that out to my dumbass.

FWIW, I got the similar model from Dell recently via a deal here and returned it after a week. It was beautiful but just too big for my setup as a work machine for a software developer. I found myself constantly panning my body/chair left and right to see windows on left/right sides of the screen.

It worked well connected to a 2019 MacBook Pro via a USB C con connection both in macOS and Windows 10 via Bootcamp.

Still struggling with what to replace it with - tending towards a dual monitor stand holding a smaller, 30-32" screen next to my MacBook Pro. Even though I am not a fan of separate screens, it's great to have access to the Touch Bar and especially TouchID for apps that support it.

can you elaborate on the warranties from credit cards a little more?

Just confirmed with a BuyDig representative that these are customer returns that are non-defective.

Man. Would love to try this but paid return shipping, CA tax, and lack of warranty make it difficult. I would definitely put the LG model ahead of the Dell with the identical panel, though, as the LG also has speakers/headphone jack.
