Also anyone know if it has a backlit keyboard? And is the RAM soldered?
No mentioning of backlit KB: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/con....GSZAA.001 .

Upgradeable to 32gb using both slots.
On crucial it's telling me that 4GB RAM is soldered on I think. Did I input the wrong model?

All the specs you want in a low to mid tier laptop but with a very decent ips screen not a low end ips.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-i5-82...182&sr=8-3

Edit: not sure anymore. Im seeing mixed reviews on this models display whereas the cheaper i3 version is relatively bright.
Thanks. That's why I was thinking maybe it's best to buy a model with a cheap TN screen and replace with an IPS screen that is even better than the IPS screens Acer puts in their $500-$600ish models. If that's possible.

I'm getting ready for work and don't have have a lot of time.

I looked here and on the WM site and it doesn't mention if it has an M.2.

It also doesn't mention an optical drive.

Does this laptop have an M.2?

This laptop or https://slickdeals.net/f/13150864-lenovo-ideapad-s340-15-6-1080p-ips-touchscreen-laptop-intel-i3-8145u-256gb-m-2-nvme-ssd-8gb-ddr4-2x2-wifi-399-99-costco?src=SiteSearch

I already have this sitting around in the box waiting for back to school season to be over.

Basically same price, but a worse screen(I guess), but more CPU and I think touchscreens on laptops are a stupid waste of money.

So many this or that's. lol In truth I'd like to hear some thoughts. I'm not too hip on the laptop game and wouldn't mind picking one up around this price for my kid(s) to use and take back and forth between mine and their mom's house.

The S340 from Costco IMO is the best bang for the buck. It checks almost every box in a budget/mid tier. An i5 would be nice, but that i3 has a mid 5000 benchmark. It's the 4 year warranty and IPS screen that puts it over the top. The small bezels make the total size impressively small for a 15.6". It's more like a 14" IMO. The matte black finish also hides the plastic well. The black levels are also very good. Just use a Costco CC for the extra 2 year warranty.

According to Crucial that laptop is upgradeable to max 32GB ram. A 4GB SODIMM is about $20. But that one also has 2 core CPU vs 4 core, and SSD is only half the size. So the Acer in this post is a LOT more laptop for that extra $60-70.
To me, the Amazon laptop (Aspire 5 with Ryzen) is the no brainier choice. Screen quality is very important on a laptop, and the Amazon one has a crisp IPS panel vs this one's washed out TN panel with crappy viewing angles. The Amazon one is $90 cheaper ($70 if you buy and install an additional 4GB of RAM). The real world difference in speed between the machines is zero, unless you plan on doing some CPU hungry tasks like zipping files, video encoding, etc. Most people don't do those things very much. Graphics are also superior on the Ryzen.

If you are purchasing a computer as a desktop replacement (ie will keep it plugged into external monitor/keyboard/mouse) then go with OPs deal. Or buy the Acer desktop with i5-9400 for $100 more. Also if you aren't able to upgrade the Amazon laptop, then you may want to go with OPs deal. But for everyone else, the Amazon laptop is the clear winner.
