Looks like a pretty good deal. Does anyone know if the CM batteries are proprietary? Like, will they fit DeWalts (since they are the same parent company)? Been waiting for a deal on the Makita, since that's all I have and have plenty of batteries for, but this deal is less than half of the tool only price of the Makita. Kind of skeptical of the 2.5 AH battery, but says it will last 80 min, which should be enough for me.
2.5 amp hr at 60 volts is allot of power

Really am thinking about the blower. Great deal. But another battery system? That will make the 4th system.

Same here,, battery powered tools have nitch uses, but nothing beats a good old extension cord.

pretty sweet deal ($103) at my local store for a leaf blower that uses the same V60 battery

I bought the leaf blower for $95 near me and it's great--for cleaning up grass clippings from edging and mowing a small-medium sized yard and getting the curb, driveway and steps. But for leaves it's got power but not enough battery time. I've been bric seeking other v60 tools for the batteries and also the batteries. I've had the blower a month and it's good but I don't know how the battery will be in a year. Craftsman is probably cancelling this v60 line of products since they dont sell them anywhere. Plus the 5.0 ah battery is $200 online only and lowes doesnt sell the 2.5 or the 5.0. Pretty soon if you need a battery you'll be looking on amaz Or e bay with the prices jacked so high it won't be worth it...and buying a whole new clearance product to replace this one to keep the cycle going.

I wonder of the v60 7.5 battery from the mower can fit this... it would be comical!

Well, if you don't have lots of work to do, smaller yard etc, I would take the freedom of cutting the cord.

I don't think you can really say cordless tools only have niche uses.

I use a corded hedge trimmer, but would love not to be tied to my outlets.

I know this is anecdotal but I have a 10 year old Craftsman c3 drill that is still working perfectly with the original 19.2 volt lithium ion battery pack. I feel pretty confident that the V60 mower/trimmer/blower set that I just bought will last a long time as well.

whats the use, garden shears will not work?
Depends on how many shrubs/trees you want to do vs available time when choosing tools.

Sheers. Works, but limited by branch size. Usually a 2x or 3x Fiskars sheers will cut thicker ones easier.
Time wasted opening the sheers on each cut.

Bypass. For the thick branches the sheers can do anything about. Slow because you usually can city only 1 big branch per stroke. Time wasted opening it wide.

Machete. Simpler than sheers or bypass. Less finesse especially with curves, but quicker cutting a longer, straight path (until the blade stops on the downstroke).

Hedge trimmer. Can usually handle medium branches sheers can't, but you still need the bypass for larger branches. Much faster than manual because the machine continuously cuts regardless of direction, so both strokes cut. Pretty much oil after each use and it'll last years. Generally very safe as long as both hands are on the handles.

Chainsaw. Cuts thicker branches easily, but usually for the pole mounted type used for trees, short length. More complex to maintain, and danger level is higher due to kickback. Need chain oil to feed the machine in use, need to make sure tensioned.

....

Here, for example, did 10 shrubs and trees yesterday. Hedge trimmer did most of the sides for the trees (about 15 minutes with ladder) and all the shrubs (about 10-15 minutes each - top, bottom, sides).

If I ever got a taller ladder, I could hedge most of the top of the trees quick, then bypass the thicker branches.

But without one, I hedged what I could reach, then pole bypass to get to the ones farther away on top.

Because of this, the five trees took about an hour longer than the five shrubs (with time to move the ladder).

Garden sheers would easily add several hours more.

...

Anyways, interesting idea - battery powered, but I have a strong feeling this one won't last four or five hours of cutting continuously like I do twice a year to clean up the yard. Corded models always annoying because I might cut the cord, but otherwise, it's not really a problem imo with a long extension cord.

Like the lawnmower deal, my local Lowe's is staying higher on price and sitting on a pile of them.
