Is this a good laptop to buy? I have been lurking around and have found several deals, most recent being the Dell Alienware 15", which was around $1270. Now this one at $1550.

My main workflow is product photography with several pack shots, converting them to JPEGs in Capture One Pro. Right now, my camera is Sony 24MP but planning to upgrade to Sony A7R IV which will produce massive files. So, need a laptop that can take the beating.

One other area is Macrophotography with focus stacking, which produces about 200-400 images that need to be converted to JPEGS and stitch them together.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/tips about this laptop.

Best,
Sai

You do realize that you can easily overclock a Max-Q video card to match the performance of a regular 1080 right? Max-Q is intended for thinner laptops that don't have optimal thermal solutions. Not everybody has the knowledge of how to undervolt, or reapply paste to help thermal dissipation. Some people just want a really fast computer that can play games at a high framerate and/or ultra settings.

For around $1,500, this is a great deal, and I don't see how Max-Q is a deal-breaker.

Deep discount, but I'm not sure I get why an 8th gen CPU and Q series GPU is still this expensive in light of other deals that have popped up recently.

Primarily form-factor in this case, I think. It's quite thin and light for what it's packing.

Lol they really dropped the ball on this keyboard. I feel sorry for the guy that orders this and feels how awkward the keyboard is once he gets it in hand.

It truly is the worst keyboard ever in a laptop!
