GRIS normal price: $16.99

I've been watching GRIS for awhile! It was on my Nintendo eShop wish list, and I was greeted by a email alerting to the sale just a few minutes ago.

I recall a mass digital game sale on the eShop back in December; while GRIS was on sale, I don't believe it was quite as deeply discounted.

Worthwhile pickup for me since I used the $50 GC I picked up via the MassGenie promotion from a few weeks ago.

If I got overcooked 2 would I be missing out on anything in the first one or not really?

No, they are independent.

We really liked the first but we've actually not beaten the second despite having preordered it over a year ago. The recipes are more complicated and this one just hasn't kept our attention.

Blossom Tales is a pretty cute Zelda clone. Worth it for half price.

In reply to madmax12 (too late to edit with proper Reply; I'm on mobile):

Nidhogg 2 is legit. I didn't like the new art direction at first but I like it now. Make sure you watch a couple videos so you know what you're getting into, though: it's violent and somewhat disturbing, but in a cute way. FWIW I play it with my 5yo.

Blossom Tales should be good but I don't own it.

Wouldn't miss out on anything, but I really feel overcooked 2 is too easy compared to 1 and I didn't like that part, but for some that may be a plus! Either way, it's a fun game.

Gris is a beautiful game, but know that it is not a "traditional" platformer. It's less about the challenge and more about the experience. It's a game pushed by beautiful visuals and music with light platforming and puzzle elements. Every area is just stunning to look at. You can take a screenshot at any part of the game and it will look amazing.

I personally love it, but I know it might not be everyones cup of tea. It's in the same vain as Limbo, or Inside, or Monument Valley, by putting visuals and music at the forefront. It is much slower paced and the gameplay kind of takes to the backseat in the experience, if you don't mind that, you'll enjoy this game. I do wish it was a little more in depth, gameplay wise, but I think it's amazing.

Games I've played:
Rime - great puzzle platformer. I heard it had terrible performance on the switch though and I'm not sure if they fixed it.
Blossom Tales - an SNES Zelda Clone. I thought it was decent but mentally I kept comparing it to Zelda as I played so it just ended up feeling kind of lackluster.
Yoku's Island Express - pretty fun metroidvania with pinball controls throughout. Backtracking was a little of a chore though on many places even with the fast travel elements in place.
Overcooked 1 & 2 - great couch co-op games but be prepared for the arguments to come! I preferred the first game to the second. Both come with some free dlc.

I'm interested in playing Gris but I wish it was longer than 3.5 hours for this price.

Agree with you regarding the difficulty downgrade. We could 3 star most levels on the first or second try. The DLC however ramps up the difficulty substantially. If you like the base game, but want more of a challenge after you're done, I advise getting the DLC packs

This is the truth, it's a little too brutal at times. Also, good luck 4 starring anything. I love it.
