First off, you didn't see this in any store because it's an online-only item (as was verified by a warehouse supervisor). So your entire comment holds no weight at all.

2. If you're buying a computer based on looks; you're a Mac user and shouldn't be looking at PCs anyways.

3. If this laptop is "big" to you, maybe you shouldn't be looking at a 15.6" laptop...

4. If this laptop is "heavy" (weighing in at ~4 measly pounds) you should try lifting more than the Roku remote every now and then.

5. It has a TN display, if you were expecting an LG OLED...

You're the kind of person who buys a Range Rover because it looks cool, then realizes it's a piece of shit when it breaks down every 3 months. You assess the value of a laptop based on, quite literally, nothing but looks and weight? Good for you. Very few share that thought with you (for good reason).

What we have here is a sub-$500 (after tax), budget lappy with a mediocre 1080p display, recent and decent processor, even better ram, SSD, touchscreen, backlit keys, fingerprint reader, and average battery. All of this comes with a 4-year warranty when Citi is used.

Pretty fair deal.

No touchscreen and 8gb vs 12gb

It's not even the same. Less ram, smaller monitor, no 4-year warranty, etc.

Nice try, though.

There seems to be a lot of complains about the WiFi speed.

Looks like a good deal. I bought the $490 inspiron 15 a few days ago. This one offers touchscreen, 4 more GB memory at $40 less. The graphics from this one is not as good as what I got though. I guess that offset the price.

Still a good deal to me.

Available in store as well, or only online?

Edit: Not available in my store. They have a similar model for $599 but it has a slightly different item number (7111) and an i7 with only 8GB ram and likely an IPS display. I'll roll the dice on this one instead as I'm cool with the extra ram and i5.

No USB-C is a bit of a bummer.

This review [notebookcheck.net] says it's an IPS screen:

The 1080p IPS display comes standard on all SKUs with touch and non-touch options. We're glad to see Dell drop the horrid 768p TN panels that plagued many older budget laptops including Dell's own Inspiron 5575. The AU Optronics AUO22ED panel on our Inspiron is the same one that HP uses for its older Envy 15 x360.

but IPS screen and it was giving 2.5 hrs (video playback), so retured it. If someone can comment on battery life that would be great. thank you
