Fry's have larger demo/OB models that 43" but am focusing on 40/43's for this deal. They are great for PC monitors and bedroom TVs. Personally I'd avoid demo models.

UN40MU6290 40" [frys.com] $178

UN40NU7100 40" [frys.com] $209

UN43MU6290 43" [frys.com] $199

UN43NU7100 43" [frys.com] $229

I usually avoided demo models bc they are usually on all day for like a year or more. But I bought a demo Vizio from Sam's club like 7yrs ago, have it running at my house 24/7 and no problems yet (YMMV)

Open boxes I'll always take any day of the week though if the disc is right. It's crazy how many people buy/return tv/laptops/etc that are sparing used for a week.

I also believe that manufacturers sell off old stock of NEW items as "refurbished" or "open box" so that they can drop the prices without upsetting their retail chains. Fry's move a lot of Samsung open box TVs - too many to be simply returns - I mean, why not the other brands too??

I have the VA version of UN43MU6300 which is identical to the 6290 except for Remote and Bluetooth.
It's a wonderful PC monitor, good enough viewing angles from arm's length use, PPI suitable for 100% scaling in Windows, and it doesn't do any weird color dithering like a lot of newer budget TVs do. NU series seems to get similar reviews, except I think they are edge lit instead of direct.

So, how do we pick which ones we get? Do we have a choice of open box or Demo?

I went as far as putting the TV in my cart (didn't buy), and it doesn't look like they're giving you a choice.

Same here...I put the two that was available for shipping (the last two on the OP's list) and, although it is free shipping, I wasn't able to pick an option. So, the OP saying to avoid Demos, I'm not sure how he was able to do that unless he did in-store pickup.

I didn't actually buy any of these since I have no current need for them. However, if I were to buy I'd definitely opt for in-store pickup and verify that it wasn't a demo unit before taking it home. And if I didn't have a Fry's store nearby I might take a chance since the prices are quite good.

I just bought the 55" with their open box advertisement. When I got there, they said that they advertise open box to give them the option to get rid of floor models/refurbished ones. He said often times, they dont have open box ones available and just give NEW in box version at the same price.

Not sure if the return policy is the same as open box versions, but I walked out with the 55" new in box samsung at their sale price for an open box TV.

The 50" link shows me $527 for in store pick up. How do you get the $269 deal?
