If you don't need PoE, and have the space for this large switch, this is probably a great option. But I have 8 and 16 port PoE switches and was surprised how much bigger the 16 is compared to an unmanaged 16 port switch. Just something to consider. I plan to expand with additional 8 port switches.

Avoid. Got burned on a $1000 poe switch. Psu failed after 2-3 years. They only have a 1 year warranty on switches. Many problems with their switches Failing and you can't buy new Psu.

I'm sticking with netgear for their lifetime warranties and had no failure ever!

Don't get me wrong I'm a Ubiquiti fanboy, but I avoid the switches
Heard the same thing.

I like Ubiquiti ecosystem as well but am working with them on a PoE switch where ports have failed after just a month - and I recently had to replace a DOA cloudkey that never worked - does not inspire confidence.

It is a 1u-sized switch.

If it deceased and then rose, wouldn't that make it a zombie? Glad that didn't happen 😂

But Amazon is not an authorized reseller, so there's potential for warranty issues. Not saying UI won't help if there's a problem, but they're not obligated to per the warranty terms and conditions.

Wish the UniFi video stuff would go on sale. I'm moving into a new house in a couple weeks and want to switch to their security camera system.

They won't help. I had a USG Pro 4 take a crap that I bought from Amazon. Ubnt told me to start the RMA process through their site. The serial came up as being for some other country. Ubnt told me to contact Amazon, as they wouldn't help (which I don't blame them for, the seller was obviously selling things they shouldn't have). Amazon took care of it.

I've only ever heard of the POE switches crapping out.

My setup has been pretty solid.

I run the controller software on a nuc I had. I'd run it on a Pi before I bought a cloud key.

You could snag a Dell X1026 or X1026P (depending if you need PoE or not) from eBay. X1026 non-PoE is usually in the $70 range and is fanless. X1026P has a fan but is very quiet and is 802.3af/at.

Also..."Dell Networking X-series switches are backed by an industry leading, lifetime warranty guaranteeing basic hardware service"
