Looks like a subwoofer and dyson cooling fan combined. How's the range on this thing?

I have two of these. I personally hate the way they look but can't get over how well they work. I get great range and speeds from them and they've only been rebooted for firmware updates or power outages. Caveat, though, that I'm not using any routing features. Both are just configured as access points using aiMesh.

It's always going to depend a lot on your setup, but the range has been really good for me. When I first bought it, I had an 86U and a TPLink tri-band at the same time and was comparing. The Blue Cave seemed to have the highest speeds in most locations. I kept thinking it shouldn't since it didn't have the big external antennas, but I tested a lot and kept getting the same results. Even when signal strength was comparable, transfer speeds were always fastest with the ugly doughnut.

Here's a review I found when I was trying to decide. It has some real-world comparisons with some other devices.

Buying a router this weekend. Was looking at AC68U and the TP-Link C2300.

Besides the look, is this any better? Weird router look too, wonder why they changed from their ROG type look.

Thanks! I missed this during Prime Day after reading the old review on SNB that it didn't support aiMesh but it actually does. I bought through Google Express with the 20% off coupon.

I got one last sale as an add on router to my Ai-Mesh system. Works nice for backyard coverage. I picked up another for front yard coverage.

Great router, great range and simple to setup for my home use. It's also very reliable. I've had mine for over a year now without any issues. Before buying this my kids used to complain of poor connections/speed in their rooms. I tried range extenders. They worked well for a while and then fail. Since we got this router I've not heard those complaints any more. And I don't even know where those range extenders are because they are not needed at all for this router.

Sold out on Google Express. Still worth it at $90?

Similar price on Black Friday 2018. I got one and the wifi signal is good. Seems better than my ac68u. However, from time to time, this router will drop all connections due to overheating. Have to reboot the router to restore connections. Also checked snbforums and some others have similar problem. No good solution so far.

I'm in for 2 to mesh with a 68u and possibly a tmo ac1900 (that is currently on ddwrt- i would have to flash back to asus). sending the deco m9 back to costco. couldn't get a seamless setup with that
