Capacity of a dehumidifier is defined by the amount of water it removes per day in pints. A 70 pint will remove more humidity than a 50 pint in a 24 hour period.

I've gone through three of these in about ten years. They tend to leak their coolant after about 2-3 years of steady running. Luckily, the warranty on the sealed components is 5y so each one was refunded. This is one of the few things I would suggest an extended warranty on.

Going the store now to pick one up. At 150 it's still a good deal.

BTW, I hate the "fake" low price that includes coupon for first time customer ONLY. Is Google Express paying SD to promote the site? Normally I don't see other posts with prices including first time customer coupon. A lot of retailer gives out first time coupon (e.g. Chewy) but we don't see posts showing low price with such coupon. This is so frustrating when you see a low price only to realize that this is just for first time customer.

The 50pint insignia one usually goes for around $130 before the google express discount. I've been using that one for a month so far running on continuous and it's been doing well. I think these are all basically the same. If I had to do it again, I'd get the 70 pint one though cuz it seems like the 50 pint can only bring the humidity down to 45 before it matches the humidity being generated.

Serious question; how does the amount it can hold relate to how much moisture it can draw?

Either way, ordered one hoping it helps in this south Florida humidity. $140 shipped via google express

I can say Frigidaire (Electrolux) has a good warranty for these models. Both of the 70 pint ones I had failed in the first 2 years. The sealed system began to leak so the units would ice halfway up the back. Electrolux promptly shipped me a new unit.

I was able to turn in my squaretrade warranty first for a prorated refund on the unit as well.

I replaced it with a GE unit and have not had any issues yet.

I live in South Florida and bought one of the 50p insignias. It definitely makes a difference. I can keep the humidity in my house usually under 50%, which makes it feel much cooler than when it is at 55% and higher.

My house isnt that big, about 1700 sq ft but I have cathedral ceilings throughout the house, so there is a lot more space than the sqft. I wish I would have gotten the 70p. I would say it fills up at about 5-6% humidity reduction.

If this is direct draining into a sump or drain, then it doesn't matter what the capacity is right relative to how much it lowers the humidity?
