You can get a hp omen with rtx 2070 for about the same price paired with i7 9xxx, granted the desktop grade cpu is more powerful and cooling is probably better with this, but man, im not sure if i want to be seen with this in a business meeting
This definitely isn't for business meetings. The thermals on the HP Omen are fairly high unless you are talking about the newest revision, which you won't get for this price. This thicc boi has no issues whatsoever with thermal throttling. It's a trade off. Personally, I went with Lenovo's Y740 17 inch laptop as it balanced price, performance, battery life, and aesthetics I was looking for.

Everyone always wants to cry about max Q until a non max Q laptop deal comes along, then they cry about how thick and heavy it is. You can have a thin Max Q, or a heavy non Max Q.

Can anyone confirm if this laptop has TB3?
Impossible. Intel does not license thunderbolt to AMD.

Literally different ends of the weight scale. GS65 is called stealth for a reason and this is a desktop replacement. Stationary for the most part vs super mobile
I understand that. But if the mobility isn't a factor for me as it would rarely ever be moved from home then which would be better overall? Although i do like the gs65's form factor i don't want that to be the deciding factor as it does get hot and loud because of it so there's definitely a trade off

Would this be a better option then a Msi GS65 with i7-9750/1660ti (paid $1320) Portability and battery life really aren't a problem since it will mostly just be moved around the house and i can just put it in a bag if need be
Yep it's going to trounce the gs65 but this thing is around 10lbs so it's really heavy and it fugly.

Bought this exact model from the Prime day sale for the same price.
The GPU died within a week. Had annoying screeching fan sounds too. Shame, because I had 2 Predator laptops (with Nvidia) prior to that, and they were awesome.

This is a desktop replacement laptop with a desktop CPU. It trounces every mobile chip in performance but the battery life is nonexistent. The Vega 56 is also very good for gaming with performance somewhere between a RTX 2060 and 2070. If you don't need portability, this is a great deal.
The review I saw it's closer to between 1070 and 2060, 2060 being slightly better

This isn't upgradeable to Ryzen 2 and it does not look like Acer will be enable the upgrade any time soon if ever. Excellent mobile workstation. I bought the Intel/Nvidia version due to CUDA. However if CUDA is not needed, this is better bang for the buck.

I purchased this last month. COULDN'T BE HAPPIER!!! This thing is a BEAST! With Ryzen Master you can OC to run all 8 cores at 4Ghz. The ram that it comes with is only 2400mm. Note: You pretty much must take the whole thing apart In order to get to the 2 slots with the stock ram. They are on the other side of the board under the chips.
I removed them and installed 64GB of Hyperx 2666.
Also note that it can only handle ONE NVME drive and ONE M.2 SATA III drive ( can't use 2 nvme drives which blows)
There is also a bay for a 2.5" drive (don't throw away the box before taking out the 2.5" dongle)
I stuck a 1TB EVO Plus, 2TB EVO SATA III m.2 and a 4TB EVO 2.5" SSD in it and it is an Content Creators DREAM MACHINE!!!

If I was a gamer I would steer towards the Intel version but if you are a video editor or 3D modeler then this is the laptop for you.

In case you were wondering... the 2 in 2700 means 2nd Generation. The 3rd gen will work when some nerd hacks the bios

You can swap out the chip for a 2700X but it's not worth it
