Impossible. Intel does not license thunderbolt to AMD.
Not impossible. Controllers/chipsets can be added to computers (including to motherboards). Including Thunderbolt. Including external to the CPU.
Example. I have seen laptop computers with Thunderbolt, & AMD CPUs; like HP Envy laptops with AMD Ryzen 5 & 7 CPUs. Because a controller/chipset (external to the CPU) had it.

Yes, currently Thunderbolt is owned by Intel who can require a licensing fee to use/include it.

Acer could include Thunderbolt. They just never seem to with the Acer Predator Helios laptops that I have seen listed. If they included Thunderbolt, I might buy one. Otherwise I'd rather have Thunderbolt included, so I get other laptop models.

Is there a policy exclusion from Intel that prevents having Thunderbolt in a computer with AMD? Intel owns Thunderbolt so can require a licensing fee.
Unless an exclusion happened in recent months. I saw HP Envy laptops with AMD Ryzen CPUs & Thunderbolt 3, 2019 June, @ Best Buy.
Where is the info that Intel excludes licensing Thunderbolt to AMD? When did that occur?
Otherwise the statement seems incorrect & misleading, or does not match the intended meaning.

Would this be a better option then a Msi GS65 with i7-9750/1660ti (paid $1320) Portability and battery life really aren't a problem since it will mostly just be moved around the house and i can just put it in a bag if need be
This has a the same chip as in a Desktop you can swap them out. The Vega 56 is the same card as the desktop version. It's a desktop that you can easily move around.

Uhhhh a board doesn't exist for a LAPTOP. sure you can build a desktop with AMD and TB but not a laptop

intel will probably put a squash on that option soon as well.

I actually don't think it's fugly but that could change once i see it in person
I am sorry if I am not with the times but what does the word "fugly" mean? I am guessing it is negative because it sounds close the word "ugly". Sorry English is not my first language.

Everyone always wants to cry about max Q until a non max Q laptop deal comes along, then they cry about how thick and heavy it is. You can have a thin Max Q, or a heavy non Max Q.
Who is crying? People are acknowledging the bulk. If i were to buy a gaming laptop this would be it or something like it

And plenty of non maxq that are under 6 pounds.

MaxQ in general is way overpriced. Thats a fact

This thing is absolutely filthy. A monster gaming PC disguised as a laptop. If you need pure power for pretty much any title out there, you're not doing any better than this at the same pricepoint.

I bought this on prime day. It has 1 m.2 x4 nvme, 1 m.2 sata3, 1 2.5inch bay with sata cable and drive mounting assembly inside the power adapter box.

Unfortunately no. And most likely never will officially from Acer (which has zero incentive to put any effort into updating bios when they can sell updated model). There is a small chance community may come up with hacked bios at some point, but I would not count on it.

I read someone popped in a 2700x into system without issues, but frankly most people would be better off using Ryzen master to overclock the included 2700.

As a fellow owner of this bohemoth, I have these questions for you:

1) How much work was getting to the stock ram modules?

2) What is stock RAM manufacturer/fab? I cannot get any info from cpuid or hwinfo64 about the stock ram.

3) Did you notice any speed boost upgrading to 2666mhz RAM? Have you tried tightening timings with Ryzenmaster yet?

I purchased this last month. COULDN'T BE HAPPIER!!! This thing is a BEAST! With Ryzen Master you can OC to run all 8 cores at 4Ghz. The ram that it comes with is only 2400mm. Note: You pretty much must take the whole thing apart In order to get to the 2 slots with the stock ram. They are on the other side of the board under the chips.
I removed them and installed 64GB of Hyperx 2666.
Also note that it can only handle ONE NVME drive and ONE M.2 SATA III drive ( can't use 2 nvme drives which blows)
There is also a bay for a 2.5" drive (don't throw away the box before taking out the 2.5" dongle)
I stuck a 1TB EVO Plus, 2TB EVO SATA III m.2 and a 4TB EVO 2.5" SSD in it and it is an Content Creators DREAM MACHINE!!!

If I was a gamer I would steer towards the Intel version but if you are a video editor or 3D modeler then this is the laptop for you.

It's a pain, if I had to do it all over again I would took it to micro center and paid them to do it.

This is what was in it:
SK Hynix 16GB (2X8GB) 1RX8 PC4-2400T DDR4

I sold them on Ebay for $50

Windows will CPUid say it's running at 2400 but they may be a windows issue. Haven't had time to dig into it.
