That link goes to item not found page. They may have pulled it. If that's not true, and somebody can give me a link that works, I'd appreciate it.

You can still pull up the link to the AR05 on the site, but there's no associated product.

I ride regularly and am not sure why anyone that doesnt regularly competively compete would want to spend $150 or $250 on a helmet. Maybe some people want to work until they are 75.

Have to max out that MAMIL

Though I wonder who actually makes these helmets. Bell/GIRO?

Paid $5 for a brandnew one at the flea market then when I went to the store to check it out is was $25. I do about 120 miles a week of leisure riding for fun and definitely would not pay $50+ for helmets essentially made of the same molded material.

I took care of a 16 yro kid last week with a fall from bike and pretty bad head trauma. He fell making a sharp turn on a busy street and was lucky no car hit him, but his brain injuries would have certainly been worse with no helmet and likely less severe with a MIPS or other protective head gear.

I have seen numerous bike vs. car traumas in the last several years, and I would encourage anyone riding on a street or crowded bike trail to invest in a quality helmet that is adjusted to fit properly. I'm not looking for any more job security, so my advice: Save money on a bicycle from the flea market, but please protect your brains.

Thanks
-Jeff

Wait until you have an accident and what a $5 helmet can protect you. You also have to consider that these helmets have expiration dates. Got the Met Parabellum on sale now at chainreaction from $200 it went down to $62.00 with free shipping to USA and no tax.

You should Google expiration dates on helmets. It's a very mixed discussion.

Manufacturers add it just to be safe. But no real data.

I agree with you, but better be safe than sorry. They manufacture and test it, so they know whats up.

It's obviously way better to wear a helmet, especially a well fitting helmet, than not. But cost doesn't necessary directly transfer to protection level.

A lot of it is common sense. Replace it if it suffers an impact, if the materials start to look old, if there is any visible damage, .etc.
