PSA: Nintendo will send you the new Switch if you bought the old version after July 17

Basically: what the headline says. If you bought the first-gen switch after July 17, Nintendo will replace it with the new model for just the cost of sending your "old" one back to them.

There doesn't appear to be a web form or anything, but you can just call their North American service number to initiate the exchange. 1 (800) 255-3700

But the chances of low firmwares ones out there are low. That's like someone finding a original xbox one for sale at Wal-Mart/Target.

What does firmware have to do with anything?

If you have an unpatched switch (check via serial number on those serial checker sites) before sending. They are worth more since they are hackable regardless of firmware version.

This, it has been over a year now since Nintendo started hardware patching them.

This is only if you bought a Switch after July 17, 2019. It has nothing to do with unpatched switches or lower firmware's. Those have been corrected long before July 2019

So the 1.0.0 - 3.0.0 Switch consoles are the ones in demand?

How much are these on the market right now?

firmware doesn't matter, its the older switchs that are is unpatched, they started patching switchs sold after July 2018. You can check if switch is unpatch via serial numbers.

I recently bought a used unpatched switch locally (just asked for serial to verify so its safe to buy), the software was update to date 8.1.0, but no worries since I was still able to install cfw because is the RCM exploit is a hardware flaw.
